I would like to let others know about the wonderful experience I had with Mrs. Spence over the last 8 months. I recently moved here from Texas and was looking into finding a counselor. I consulted with my insurance and found Mrs. Spence. I left a message and I got a same day response and luckily she was accepting new clients.
Well, I have to say that Mrs. Spence is exceptional with her practice. She listened to all my concerns and helped me find the treatment best for my situation. I have been seeing counselors for the better part of my life and Mrs. Spence was a perfect solution for what I had been struggling with for a while. We did EMDR therapy, and I was so amazed at the freedom and peace I experienced through the whole process. I feel as if a weight has been lifted off my shoulders through this process.
Mrs. Spence is easy to talk to and an exceptional listener and was able to guide me through to the others side of my early childhood experiences. I would highly recommend her if you are seeking counseling for yourself. Mrs. Spence was easy to reach by email, text or phone and promptly answered all my questions. Thank you again, Mrs. Spence.

I am writing this review on behalf of a client that was seeking help at this practice. This client is a dear friend to me, and I represent her as one of the only support structures that she has.

The client has been through many traumatic events, and through a search online I found Cynthia's biography to be a potential fit for therapy. Long story short, Cynthia determined that the client needed alternative resources in session 2 and charged the client for the session.

I was told of the experience the client had, and she stated that she felt very ostracized thereafter, and thus felt unmotivated to seek help any further. It also seemed to me that even though the client provided enough information ahead of time on what her needs were, it was determined much later that she needed to seek help elsewhere. Lastly, I think it is quite inappropriate to charge a client for a session fee when that client did not receive the help that he/she needed. She could have used that money to find help elsewhere, as these services are quite expensive let alone most people cannot afford health insurance coverages.

At the end of the day, we were able to find a suitable resource for the client elsewhere, using a different search method the client and I discovered after redoing our research; she felt welcomed to the process and is now receiving the benefit of therapy that she needed. The process went much differently, and payment began only after the initial consultation to determine if the fit was right for the client or not. Therapy should be about directing the one in need where they need to go, not capitalizing on one's situation like a business transaction. The mental health crisis will never change if we don't operate with grace with those that need help the most.
