After 11 months of constantly calling and leaving messages, I finally received a call. I ONLY RECEIVED A CALL BECAUSE SHE WAS SITTING IN FRONT OF MY HUSBAND AND HE ASKED HER TO CALL ME. The lack of effort within the public defender's office is disrespectful. 6 months into the case, I don't think the file was ever opened. Now that the case is coming to an end, minimal effort is being put in and by effort I mean pushing for the plea deal to be accepted. I feel for EVERYONE who has to deal with this.

Most interactions with any public defender are negative, but Elissa Noyes and Gail Mote at the Lowndes Co Public Defender's office are amazing! They worked tirelessly and went way above and beyond. These two women are angels and if I could give them 10 stars, I would! Thank you for a wonderful job!!

Awful place that the government needs to look into. We need enough people to come together & get this place shut down, are get rid of everyone in there for someone who's gonna do their jobs responsibley. They r disgraceful, won't answer the phone, & won't return any calls. What's the purpose of having an answering service if u don't ever use it. They seem to have their on little club circle, because there's to many related public figures in our offices that needs to be brought to justice themselves. If anyone is interested in starting a petition against this office, let me know I'm all in.

I’m in the process of getting a public defender here, and I was supposed to Be in court on Wednesday, March 6, I had reached out to the public defenders in mid February and they still had not gotten back with me so on March 4 I went up there, they had me fill out paperwork and told me I did not have to go to court on March 6.

It was two days away, so I double checked before I left and they had me fill out a form and told me I did not have to go. This past week I was arrested for failure to appear to that court date, and it cost me $1000 so somebody is going to be refunding me the money!

Either the public defenders office neglected to process the paperwork like they should’ve when they told me, I didn’t have to go to court, or they did, and Lowndes county did not process the paperwork, but one place or the other owes me $1000 because I was literally arrested for failure to appear to that court date and had to pay $1000 cash bond! So if they tell you you don’t have to go to court, you better double check that or just go anyways, to be safe so far, I am not impressed. I will change the rating if they make it right! This is ridiculous!

This place is notoriously awful. I'm told , If you are in jail , you will not see nor will you hear from your court appointed attorney until it's time to appear in court and by that time , the attorney hasn't even spoken with you about your version of events that lead to your arrest. I have tried reaching out to them for 4 consecutive months in regards to a relative who is currently incarcerated , but they refuse to answer the phone or return my calls. Only 1 call has been returned. He was not familiar with anything regarding the case. He was trying to force feed a plea deal and when he learned that our party would not even consider a plea , he became very unenthused and disinterested. Hasn't answered the phone since. It sounds unfair until you ask around and everyone else has the same experience.

I must admit that lowndes county justice system is by far one of the most cruel and unjust in the US..the stories I've heard about wait times inmates spend incarcerated before getting a court date or even speaking to a public defender is unreal..3-4 months is average.. God must love me because I was assigned a PD named Jarrod Baskin!!! Mr. Baskin is understanding, enthusiastic, hard working, uncorrupted, and quick.. boy is he quick!! Made me feel as if I am his only client..was always available when I needed him..he will be on my Christmas list for sure...thank you Mr .Baskin for actually serving you client..

This Public Defenders Office is a disgrace and disservice to the community of Lowndes County.. My Fiance's was arrested and didnt see his PDefender for 10 months and that was after his mothers relentless phone calls to this office and including calls she made to his supervisor...which the superviser wasnt no help and he was unbelievably unprofessional and quite RUDE..furthermore once the PD did come inside the jail to see my Fiance' he was rude, unprofessional ,rolling his eyes and told him to just take a plea bargin..also isnt it a little IRONIC that the supervisor is related to the criminal judge that a good portion of people represented by this office end up in front of? JUST SAYING A LIL TO STRANGE... HMMMM,,DOESNT SEEM QUITE FAIR HUH?
