I hired Shari Lee Smith for legal services for bankruptcy. I was ambivalent which I am sure frustrated her and her paralegals but Shari and her staff were patient and professional in spite of my ambivalence. Even after the bankruptcy closed, Shari helped me with creditors who kept sending me bills after the bankruptcy was discharged. The cost was very reasonable and the service was incredible. It seems as if you call to make an appointment but the person answering the phones wants to give legal advise that goes completely against what you are trying to achieve.

No one should be giving legal advice unless you as an actual attorney. This isn’t the first time I call and they try so hard to tell me information over the phone that is not ACCURATE. If you’re not Shari, you shouldn’t be giving legal advice. Point blank period.

I strongly recommend Shari for your legal services. Her and her paralegals(Chrissy, Barry, and Michelle) worked very hard for my divorce case and my child custody case which we won both cases. For me being in military is a tough job, but going through life-changing events like divorce and a child custody case is much more difficult. They alleviated a lot of stress from my shoulders and I can’t think of enough for what they do.

We began working with Shari Smith in early May of 2024 via referral by MetLife legal regarding:

- our mother passing/her will
- her child (our sister who we’d be getting custody of)
- mom’s property (quit claim deeds in will)

By our third contact, we had lost our mama & the law office requested that we send over the will. Over the next month, we went back and forth five times contacting the law office & was told by the fifth time attempting to make contact, the law office doesn’t do probate but they may be able to assist with custody. Why they requested the will remains a mystery. Whether they'd be able to assist with custody was uncertain.

All the while, through out us reaching out those five times, we were told someone would get back to us about an appointment to discuss our needs of will, custody and quit claim deeds. Having known about the will, and requesting the will nearly a month before — still lingering concerns with why this late to tell us they can’t assist with probate & uncertain about the custody.

A month had passed and we ask about any updates to the situation or the appointment we were told we’d get, they respond with a 2pm appointment day of in our inbox. We call out of work to make the appointment. At the beginning of the call, they restated that they don’t do probate (which has already been made clear). Then they begin to ask how they can help otherwise. As if they’re unaware of any topics regarding the custody or the quit claim deeds. While we begin to patiently explain, they ask where we’re located with the case (minding our location was stuff we let them know on day one during our initial consult).

They asked if they could put us on hold & returned stating they don’t service our area. The last two months of our mamas life was wasted over lack of communication (they always asked us to wait on response for a follow-up appointment) & effort towards their clients needs (noting they do not do probate after requesting a will and several weeks pass after requesting & receiving the will, lastly stating they don’t service our area).

We feel that this firm was never concerned with what we initially reached out about, since we had to explain our situation several times in only two months. Ultimately being told that they couldn’t help based on day one stuff, our location.

We called MetLife and they too said, they hope that this law firm doesn’t do to anyone else. Figured it would be equally helpful to let anyone else know who’s thinking of hiring them for legal matters.

They may be up your alley & able to help but certainly wasn’t up our alley. They could’ve & would’ve been avoided had they told us about not serving our location day one. Writing this detailed of a review regarding our time line with hopes to help anyone avoid having experiences like this in the future.

After writing this, proof reading it and choosing to read over past reviews before posting... it seems we're not the only one who's had this off -handed experience regarding how this office operates. We truly hope this doesn't happen to someone else in the future. While we are blessed to have such a supportive community of friends and family through this troublesome loss; had we not had such our strong community, the last two months of our mama's life being wasted by a lack of communication and effort toward their client's needs would be borderline unforgiveable.

In conclusion, we would leave a zero star review if we could. Google seems to believe it can't be that bad.....

We have had a wonderful experience using this law firm. Chrissi and Shari were wonderful to work with. The staff went above and beyond to provide continuous detailed information and instruction on the full legal process. Although the process was long, due to no fault of the staff (court dates moved due to some personal reasons) the staff was extremely understanding and continually keeping my fiancé and I aware of the process along the way. The law office was extremely experienced and knowledgeable and always provided detailed explanations and guidance. I would highly recommend Ms. Shari and her team.
