I've used Killingsworth Spencer for the last 3 years and I can say that without a doubt they are the best! And I intend to continue using them for the indefinite future!

They handle both my business and personal taxes as well as my Wife's now and I have been extremely happy with everything about working with them.

Everyone on the team are paramount professionals. And they are amazing at what they do. I rarely owed anything on state or federal before, but after starting with them, I realized how much I was losing out on doing them myself with an online provider.

I went to Killingsworth Spencer looking for a CPA and direction/guidance after my Mom passed. I inherited money and did have a financial advisor but he also recommended a CPA. I am going to be the odd person out. I just don't understand the good reviews. When I made the first appointment, it was to be with Janet and several (at least 4 or more) "advisors." Janet did not show up, had somebody take her place and only 1 advisor showed up with his assistant. I was not told ahead of time that the people I was told who would be in attendance would not be there. During this meeting, the advisors had little (if any)advice/direction. It was more of "I'll like into that and we'll get to back to" which never happened. When tax season rolled around, I made my appointment. Knowing that there is a "cut off date" for personal taxes, I made my appointment ahead of time. They had my paperwork for nearly 3 weeks and it was never done. Eventually told that I needed to file an extension. I 55 years old (my husband 59) & have never had to file an extension in our lives. This wasn't bc they had questions for us or missing documents. They didn't even start. From there, most of our encounters were with Judy. She was always in a hurry. Very short with us. I have an annuity that needed paperwork filled out by Judy. We sat down at the table, she started it and then got confused about the questions on it. She quickly gathered the papers, said she had to look into it and left. Over 2 months went by, didn't hear from her. When I called her I was told to find a local advisor (from the company of the annuity) & get his help. Judy never completed the paperwork. The next tax year, I again made my appointment to have our taxes done (yes, I was hesitant). When I made the appointment I told them again, I am making it before the cut off and do not want to file an extension again. When I called 2-almost 3 weeks later about status, I was told an extension has to be filed. I said no way. It was handed off to Karen G. During this time with KS, I had questions about inherited IRA's (had more than one). The only explanation/advice I was given by Judy was "the IRS keeps changing the rules & it's confusing. That she takes her scheduled RMD's, no more/no less and I should do the same." If I take the regular scheduled RMD's, I wouldn't get it all out on time. Again, no direction from their "advisors." We needed advice/direction about tax implications for many things and always hit a dead end. We decided enough was enough and went to H&R Block. Our taxes were COMPLETED withing our 45 to 1 hour visit. She was knowledgeable about my annuity and answered all the questions I had for year with KS. The cost for having our personal taxes done by KS each year was nearly $700. That doesn't include my Mom's taxes after her death which was around $600. H&R Block cost was $300. I did receive an email the year we changed to H&R Block from KS to make an appointment for our tax prep, in June!
