This library is very large with lots of seating areas and study rooms, and always super clean! I noticed the staff here is overall pleasant. I have, however, consistently had negative interactions with one particular staff member. On multiple occasions, when asking for assistance, she has been dismissive and abrupt. For example, such as when I requested assistance for using the printer, or asking if they accept donations for food and other products, and she paused, then replied in a dismissive, clipped tone, 'no only books." This behavior creates a negative atmosphere and discourages me from seeking help. I wanted to bring this to your attention, but there is still generally a positive experience I have with the library's other staff.

Also, I understand the code on the doors is for security measures, but my concerns are those with disabilities and medical conditions. This creates an unnecessary barrier for them. Have you all taken that into consideration? Or those who are having a bathroom emergency, if it were you, would you want immediate access to a bathroom, or delayed access to request a code? I am concerned this policy may be infringing upon the public's right to free and accessible library services.

thank you for your swift response to my review! I appreciate that However, I remain concerned about somethings. Specifically, as far as my comments regarding the staff member at the front desk (short brown hair, glasses) who consistently provides dismissive and abrupt assistance. This is a customer service issue.
Also, you mentioned a security episode, I am not sure what this means, but the access codes are given upon request, this may not address security concerns. I wanted to recommend maybe, more staff presence in the bathroom area, installation of security cameras , A security evaluation conducted by the Sheriff's Department to identify and address underlying vulnerabilities, these are called security checks, its a service done by all sheriffs depts and police departments

I understand you are working to address these concerns, but it still posses an issue to those disabilities and medical conditions, their accessibility is a must.

We love the Houston County libraries. But, the NOLA one seemingly has employees that dislike their job or something. There is one worker in particular who ALWAYS gives attitude and scolds kids in the kids room that are playing with the toys you PLAY with when she is shelving books in there (she isn’t always in there). She wears a mask and I am not sure if they wear name tags now that I think about it. I’ll have to check. I couldn’t find an actual place besides google reviews to report the behavior so for now this is as good as it gets. Yes it is a library, but there are also toys for a reason and even the most well behaved children can get loud on ocassion. The eye rolls and huffing and puffing and scolding are not necessary especially if a child is doing nothing to damage property, or hurt others or themselves. Never had a good encounter with her. The Centerville and Perry ones are our go to locations because the staff at both are kind, considerate, and welcoming without the attitude and our kids don’t seem to be as annoying to them there when they are sitting playing with toys.

Great library, clean, plenty of space, love the ambiance that you feel when you walk in, kids library is beautiful warm and inviting, love the private study rooms (hope one day they will impliment sound-proof windows), love the different events that are held as well, yoga being introduced has grabbed my attention by far!!
2 of the staff members can be very rude, sometimes, (white male supervisor and black female worker), make you feel like you are wrong for asking them for assistance(whatever that may be) rolling of eyes, huffing of their breath, not saying your welcome after getting the assistance you need.. unfortunately a job is a "job" to some as to why they dont take it as serious as they should, their there to collect a pay check but have no real knowledge of customer service and what it entails, some they'll be nice/respectful to and some they want.
Overrall the other librians are decent and so is the library.

I love the public library system in Houston county. The staff are diverse, friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The buildings are clean and user friendly. I highly recommend the whole family come out to enjoy all the kid friendly activities available.

It’s a great library. Admittedly I’ve only gotten a couple books from here but me and my partner are always half-hoping we’ll have to come here to find what we’re looking for even though it’s an extra 15 minute drive…

Went there for a talk by an author, Dr Temitope Ogunsakin. Library staff was helpful in helping him set up the room and needed slide projector. They were helpful to me as I am handicapped. Great place.
