Unfortunately, like half of married couples, I found myself needing a divorce several years ago. My ex wife and I had 4 children together and custody was extremely contentious. Ms. Chapman was appointed by the court as guardian ad litem to determine the best outcome for the children.

Ms. Chapman was the highlight of an otherwise very unpleasant divorce. Her warm & caring demeanor allowed her to put my children at ease. She treated everyone with respect and established a trusting rapport.

She was extremely thorough and took her role as guardian very seriously. Equally as important, her office was so easy to work with. Whitney was always pleasant on the phone and worked hard to make sure my needs were met in a way that accommodated everyone's schedule. It was as if she understood that her role in the process had a major effect on the client’s psyche.

Ms. Chapman interviewed everyone on the list I provided her and even spoke with persons at the children’s school and their therapists multiple times during her investigation. Her summary was unbiased, child centered and free of emotion which is crucial in these matters. I recall not liking some of what she said in her summary because she was bringing some of my weaknesses to light. However, her assessment was spot on, and she was absolutely correct. Adhering to her suggestions not only made keeping to the parenting plan easier, but also helped me become a better parent.

My ex wife was so impressed by her work that two years later when filing for the first custody modification, she specifically requested Ms. Chapman be appointed guardian ad litem. In fact, that might’ve been the only thing we both agreed on from the start.

During her second “tour of duty” in our highly contested situation, Ms. Chapman approached the task with the same thorough child focused approach we had come to expect. Her summary was again spot on demonstrating her attention to detail and deep understanding of the situation.

If everyone approached their job with the amount of effort & respect that Ms. Chapman does, the world would surly be a better place.

Both Claire and her assistant were extremely rude to me when I visited this week. Whitney, Claire's assistant, couldn't have an attitude any more like a child. Whitney acted disgustingly this week. AVOID THIS ATTORNEY AND HER ASSOCIATES AT ALL COST!

Went in for a consult. Initial encounter is cordial enough, if not a little curt. Instead of going over options, immediately begins to lecture about what *cannot* be done, and I ask a single question - not in an attempt to question her expertise in any way, only a clarifying question. Immediately gets hostile and shows me the door with no explanation for why she suddenly became unprofessionally antagonistic. That behavior's rather shameful and unbecoming of a licensed professional. At least she was ethical enough to not take my money, so she's got that going for her, I guess.

I am a returning client of hers! I scheduled a Mediation meeting with Claire Chapman's office in early July 2020 and was told at the time that it was possible that in-person meetings could be suspended bc of COVID 19 and that a Zoom meeting might have to take place. I explained that a Zoom meeting wouldn't be a problem if needed. I was told okay and that some paperwork would be sent to me. After about 2 weeks, I hadn't seen the paperwork, so I called and talked directly to Mrs. Chapman (bc her receptionist was on vacation) and she told me then that in-person meetings were suspended and that the paperwork was typically sent a week beforehand. I said it was fine to use Zoom and that I was familiar with it and I looked forward to receiving the paperwork. Today (early Aug) after, her receptionist calls me to tell me that they WILL NOT do a Zoom meeting with us bc we are not represented by attorneys and her office feels that Zoom meetings are not productive unless the clients are represented by attorneys. Myself and the other party are in complete agreeance to move forward with a custody/parental/legitimation case to provide to a judge. I feel as though I was lead on for a full month thinking I had plans to have this resolved, just to be told that bc I didn't have an attorney that Mrs. Chapman's office refused to do a Zoom meeting even though myself & the other person were more than willing to do this meeting via Zoom. Very Unprofessional in my opinion.
