Waste of tax dollars. You will sit on hold for eternity. One of the wealthiest county’s in the state and they can’t answer phones in a timely manner.

Judge Minton is outstanding as our Circuit court judge. We were gathered for a very routine matter to be sworn and bonded as wedding officiants, and even for something so mundane, everyone serving us showed good humor and kindness, being most helpful and courteous.

officer told me if i pay the ticket before the court date it would be reduced from 190 to 90. tried to pay online but it wont let me. one of the worst systems i've ever had to deal with

Edit - just saw some out of touch boomer replied to my comment. I never had any court date I showed up to, it was the officer who pulled us over, who gave me a ticket and ignorantly claimed it would be cheaper to pay online, he was simply misinformed, weird occupation to not be fully trained and competent. And I have never lived in Virginia thankfully

Honestly can't believe how unprofessional, rude, and incompetent this clerk's office is. I called to ask about a case that had not been updated in their computer system for several days after the hearing date (at the circuit court I used to work at, we ran checks daily to ensure this didn't happen in our case load :)). I spoke to someone and asked if she could tell me what happened in the case. She was very exasperated and said, "Well, I have NO idea! They're UPSTAIRS, we're DOWNSTAIRS." First of all....what does that even mean? There was a pause and she asked if there was an attorney on the case. I told her no. She sighed really heavy and said, "What's the defendant's name?" I told her. She said, "Thank you." I didn't respond because I figured she was, ya know, looking it up, and I don't have a response to that. Then she says, "MA'AM? ARE YOU THERE?" I said, "Yes, I'm here?" She said, "WELL, I said THANK YOU, and got NO RESPONSE!" ...............What am I supposed to say. I said, "I didn't think I needed to respond." Then she HUNG UP ON ME. Like, lady, I don't know who you think you are, but trust me, sis, as someone who worked in a clerk's office for 3.5 years in a jurisdiction much more jumpin' than Chesterfield, it's not a hard job. It's not hard to 1.) Keep track of ya'll's cases and 2.) not be an absolute B over the phone for no reason.
Bye.

It's funny that there are 1 Stars reviews of Circuit Court when they are complaining about being fined for a compliable offense in General District Traffic Court when they failed to appear for their hearing! Guilty people get a guilty verdict and they cry "victim" and "racism" while denying personal responsibility. I know that many more warnings, verbal and written, are issued for minor traffic violations than summonses, so clearly it's not just about making money. These salty reviews clearly show that most of these complaints are nothing more than whining. That said, when there are legitimate reasons for griping against specific Judges or Officers or Attorneys or Clerks, they are lost in the mess of "boo hoo I violated the law and was found guilty for it at a fair hearing in court a durrr 1 star." This is laughable.

I find it funny that anyone who did not get a favorable ruling like the person who wanted a ticket reduced from 190 to 90 should be up set. He should be in jail. If you don't like Chesterfield county MOVE, move to Richmond,. Move to another state do us a favor. There is more to the circuit court than just court. I have found that the deputy clerks are professional and polite.
