I hired a lawyer and paralegal from this firm in the beginning of February for a workers compensation claim and didn’t hear anything from them after submitting my paperwork unless I hounded them via phone calls and emails for weeks. They will go weeks without responding to you, and when you’re at your wits end and ask them point blank what they have done on your case, they will give you the run around. I was gaslit by my lawyer telling me the reason I had no movement on my case was due to the worker’s compensation insurance, and not due to the fact my lawyer didn’t submit a single piece of paperwork I sent them in the two months I hired them. They never even asked me for my social security card or number, of which is needed to file anything in the workers compensation system (to my surprise, my new lawyer told me this and confirmed that my old lawyer didn’t submit a single thing during this time). I hired a new attorney and within one day I already have more work done on my case than the lawyer from Werner and Hoffman. When I was fed up with the lack of communication, I put together a polished email asking the lawyer to show me and explain what they had submitted on my behalf, when they told me they were going to start submitting paperwork I had sent them over a month and a half prior. If you want a lawyer to communicate with you promptly and not give you the run around when you question what they have done due to the lack of communication since intake, this is not the place for you. When I told my lawyer I was concerned regarding the fact I had been paying almost $2,000 for all my medical bills upfront so far because my lawyer had yet to reach out to my adjuster to have them speak to my doctors regarding me even having a claim and having to submit my medical bills no longer to health insurance but to workers compensation, I was told that I need to “take some responsibility” and look for a job. I’m unsure how he even knows I haven’t been applying for a job, because I have. Switching industries due to an injury I have not yet fully healed from while in a very competitive job market is not easy, especially without a degree. I am extremely glad I switched representation and am actually getting things finally taken care of somewhere else. I recommend anyone looking into lawyers at this firm to search their name into google following the word “Reddit” for yourselves before hiring and wasting your time.
