Loni was the GAL for my case. At first everything was fine. Her paralegal at that time wrote up a wonderful report that was fair and honest and basically just explained who the father and I were as people there were no bias. There were no scathing words about either parent. Not too long after that report was turned in our court date was postponed several months in which time, that paralegal quit, which I was not informed of. I had been emailing her for months with my check-in’s. I was not told that she was no longer working for the attorney until one day a new paralegal reached out to me. She was rude, scathing, unkind, and cold towards my children. She lied and created stories about the previous paralegal and stated that she needed to do new home visits. After those home visits all of the sudden, I am a terrible parent. I keep a dirty home, mind you my home was on the market at the time that she viewed my house so the house was spotless and professionally cleaned to be prepared for people to view my home to buy it. She constantly canceled appointments last minute to make it seem like I was hard to get a hold of. In the end, I see my children six evenings a month if that. I’ve never even had a speeding ticket in my life. But because of the lies and manipulation of the GAL report i only see them max, six days a month, bc I’m not rich. After reaching out to several families that were assigned her as their GAL, I found that if you hire an attorney that she’s friends with, she will side with you, if you slide her a little extra cash, she will side with you. Also, she went to school with two of the well-known judges in Paulding County and she is friends with so they are biased to whomever she recommends. And usually like I said, she recommends whoever pays her more or whoever hire an attorney that she’s friends with. Avoid at all costs if you want a fair shake when it comes to a GAL.

Lani Skipper was the Guardian Ad Litem on the custody case for our 3 children. She did an exceptional job of advocating for our kids during this very long and difficult process. She was kind, professional, and helpful to us, but made it clear her priority was always the children. Lani did a lot of investigation and many interviews to learn everything she could, before she determined what to recommend to the judge. We did not always agree with all the decisions and outcomes in our case. (Every parent wants to get their own way in these situations.) But we did feel Lani was fully informed and understood the situation clearly because of her investigative “legwork” on our case. And now that it is over and the dust has settled, we realize Lani’s unbiased and thoughtful handling of our case was truly in the best interest of our children. Also, her office staff was exceptionally helpful and provided great customer service anytime we had questions or needed guidance on the process. If Lani and her firm are assigned to your family’s case, you can rest assured she is a highly skilled and experienced GAL, and she is always looking out for your children’s best interest during a very difficult and emotional process. We can’t thank her enough for how she handled the case for our family!

My case was a very complicated case. With that being said lani was probably the worst GAL I have seen. She was extremely biased. Even though she acknowledged that their was alienation present she chose to turn the other cheek and ignore it and recommend that I have supervised visitation. After that I chose to file to have her removed for the negligence. After she was removed we received a new GAL who went above and beyond picking through lies and finding out the whole truth. In the end I have sole custody of my kids and breathe a sigh of relief knowing that they are safe again with me and out of the court system that lani would have kept them in. She is one of many that responsible for the broken relationship I had with my children and once removed my relationship with them improved immensely. If she is your GAL get her removed asap because she will not advocate for your kids!

Lani is absolutely amazing and listened in on both sides of my husbands custody case and she always has the child well being in best interest. Ms. Sassers poor review was only done out of spite because court did not go her way and she has to put the blame on someone other than herself. Lani used her best judgment for my stepson from her 20 + years as being a top GAL in multiple counties. If anyone is going through a custody battle I would highly recommend Lani if needing a GAL!

I rarely write reviews of other attorneys, but I happened to see the one-star review from Ms. Sasser and felt compelled to respond. I have known Lani for at least 15 years and have practiced with her, against her, before her when she sat as a Juvenile Court judge, and along side her in her capacity as a Guardian ad Litem. I have found her to be exceptionally professional and of the highest ethical standards, in every respect and capacity that I have dealt with her in, even when we had completely adversarial viewpoints. She does the work, presents the evidence, and is an honor to our profession. It appears (because I don't know the case personally) that Ms. Sasser had Lani on her case as the Guardian ad Litem, an appointment made by the Court and that is paid for by the parties, but one that does not represent EITHER party, and ONLY makes recommendations to the Court based upon her investigation as to what she feels is in the best interests of the child (even if the child disagrees). It is a difficult role and one that I have seen other parents confuse in the past, as has apparently happened here. I am certain though that even the poor review above will not influence the Guardian ad Litem, and that she will remain, as always, dedicated to presenting to the Court what she feels is in the child's best interests.
