I can’t tell you how impressed I am with this company. They have it together. I drove all the way to Denver to pick up several lots and Ann was assigned to me to gather all my lots. She gave me so many pointers and things to make the job easy and smooth. I can tell she is experienced and his ironed out the best way to do things. She even held my keys so that I wouldn’t lose them or lock them in my car. She really went above and beyond. Not just Ann, but everyone at this company has been nothing but professional, organized, and efficient. Thank you for the pleasant experiences I have had so far.

Earlier this year, the owner was contacted to provide a solution to 60k' of new office furniture that needed to be sold (the business closed during COVID). After wasting hours over two weeks, Schur Success was a sure failure. They were unable to move a single item but wanted to continue discussions on the materials.

As a massive supporter of local business and economic development, I gave Schur success another chance as I shopped for a particular piece. Lo and behold, the perfect piece became available during one of their routine auctions. It came as a complete shock and surprise that when the auction concluded, someone else was the winner. Even though I had led the bid the entire time and had a large budget for the item.

When I dug into how this was possible, I discovered that the item had been "sniped". I have never been exposed to this practice, but if you want to learn about it, you can learn about it on YouTube.

I was completely heartbroken that this dishonest practice was allowed in our local online auction house. I immediately contacted the owner and told them about the violation of their published fair use policies. The remedy I was given was they would contact the sniper and see if they were interested in selling the item to me. Their excuse for not enforcing their own stated policies is, "This is a standard practice across auction houses." They took absolutely zero responsibility.

This leads me to believe that Schur Success has some arrangements with resellers. This raises a larger question: are they fair to those using them for estate sales? Why else would they allow these dishonest practices that violate their published policies, even when brought immediately to their attention? Apparently, their policies are in place to protect them, not their customers.

Bottom line...working with this company has been a constant disappointment. Whether attempting to buy or sell, this company has a way of never coming through. I’ll never work with them again. They have proven themselves as a very niche company that only works for their few arranged customers. I have never felt loyalty or trust. I DO NOT RECOMMEND. I DO NOT RECOMMEND. I DO NOT RECOMMEND. This is a well managed and professional, all-inclusive Estate Management Service. Since I live in a different state and was managing an estate in CO, R Schur handled the entire estate sale of home furnishings, the Cleaning and disposing of items not sold, Repair and Maintenance of Property and sale of said property with very accurate and complete documentation and reporting. I thought I had stumbled upon a decent auction house and source for purchasing some coins. Closed out an auction winning about 16-17 lots. Upon receipt I tested the gold and silver coins using a Niton XL2 980 metal analyzer and found that two of the coins which were listed and described as solid gold were actually gold plated copper. Schur was very good about taking ownership of the error and offering accommodations. I returned the coins and they did give me a refund in full for the total cost spent on each coin, which is the reason I’ve given two stars instead of only one. However when I spoke with the owner she explained that despite the fact that the coins/precious metals they sell are being auctioned by Schur, and despite the fact that Schur is responsible for the accuracy of the descriptions of the items sold in their auctions, Schur Success Group staff do not do any in-house testing or analysis of the precious metals being sold. I was told by Shannon verbatim, “we consign many of the items we auction for several sellers who we’ve been doing business with for a very long time, so we just take them at their word that the items we consign for them are described to us accurately. We just copy whatever description the seller gives us for the item when posting them.”

I find this to be terrifying. Auction houses like Schur are taking many tens - and even hundreds of thousands of dollars from their buyers. To be dealing in items like precious metals, gems, antiques, jewelry, etc., without confirming the quality and/or authenticity of every single item they offer for themselves prior to moving it to a public auction setting is pretty outrageous. Shannon’s email signature boasts a healthy list of qualifications -

“Shannon Schur, CAI, BAS, CES, GPPA
CEO, Master Auctioneer, Certified Estate Specialist, Asset Appraiser”

-how can it be that a person who dubs herself a “Master Auctioneer” and “Asset Appraiser”, who apparently has a certification as an “Estate Specialist” allows the company that bears her name to sell copper as solid gold? And then during the conversation where the buyer informs her that they misrepresented gold coins, openly admits to selling precious metals without knowing for sure that they’re precious at all?

I very frequently attend and make purchases at auction and have been for many years. This is the first time I’ve ever been compelled to leave an auction house a negative review; but this is also the first time that I’ve ever had the owner of an auction house tell me directly that they’re selling precious metals untested. If I’d have known this ahead of time I wouldn’t have ever bought from Schur at all, and that’s the only reason I’m posting this review.
