I highly, and I can’t stress this enough, highly would not recommend these attorneys. When I filed for bankruptcy a few years ago. Everything was great until after the attorney fees were paid. After that everything went down hill.

The lack of communication from the office is an embarrassment. There were several instances where I would receive a notice from my trustees saying my case was going to be dropped cause I was not supplying documents that were being requested.

Everytime I would attempt to call or email it would take them at a minimum of a weekto get back to me or not respond. When I would finally get a response it would never answer the question I asked. Justin Burton is probably one of the most unprofessional people I have ever worked with in my life. He is condescending and doesn’t have people skills. The receptionist was also very rude and unhelpful.

I’m glad I never have to work with this office again.

Please do your research before spending your money and time with these crooks.

If I could give zero stars I would. I'm sharing my frustrating experience with my previous Chapter 13 bankruptcy lawyer to caution others. In 2023, I filed for Chapter 13 bankruptcy, despite being eligible for Chapter 7, and was not offered a payment plan, which led to unsustainable $90 monthly payments that I struggled to make due to living expenses. What's more disturbing is the unprofessional behavior I encountered, including insensitive and condescending remarks from one of the lawyers, who even joked about me having to eat McDonald's for dinner for the week when I mentioned my financial struggles. It became clear that they prioritized their fees over my financial well-being, and when I considered canceling their services, they attempted to bribe me with a lower Chapter 7 bankruptcy cost. If you're seeking a bankruptcy lawyer who understands the challenges of living on a low income, I would advise against this lawyer, as there are more compassionate and understanding attorneys who prioritize their clients' financial stability.

I did a bk back in 2019. While the experience at the beginning was fine and the entire bk was completed I am extremely disappointed because my lawyer failed to inform my wife or myself that because we filed taxed jointly for 2018 and she wasn't going to be on the bankruptcy that she would still be getting interest and penalties. But the irs couldn't let her know because the joint return was in the bk. So after discharge my wife gets a notice of levy from the irs for interest and penalties that were added between April 15 2019 to Oct 17 2024. Being young kids that made a mistake you would think your lawyer would want to let you know what to expect especially since finding out after calling about the situation he said yep that can happen. Cool thanks for warning us or for letting us know she still needs to take care of her responsibility or that she should just do the bankruptcy with me. I wouldn't go back to them at this point.

Typically I do not leave reviews however considering the importance of the matters you hire this business for and after my experience with this business and how they handled my case I find it appropriate to do so. I had fallen very ill and become entangled in a financial situation that led me to seek their services.From my first meeting with them to begin the filing process one of the first things said to me from Justin himself was " boy you aren't living the high life" seemed unprofessional right from the beginning and set the tone for the rest of my experience with this business. Phone calls are difficult to get returned and when they are they returned in an a very untimely fashion and they act put out when they do contact you back.. Had even had an individual answer on my one of my attempts to call and was rudely informed that Justin was busy with another client and my choices were voicemail or schedule an appointment only to receive a call about a week later to be told he was not in the office at all week the week I had been trying to get in contact. Also had them reach out to me needing some answers to questions when answered Scott he proceeded to tell me " he had a seminar that afternoon" and acted like it was burden to deal with with the answer he received from me and needless to say nothing was done or any of my questions answered in any kind of caring fashion. Do not become ill or have any issues during to your dealings with this business.They did not answer any of my questions with any kind of clarity or offer any advice or insight on moving forward with the issues I encountered. This business does not perform enough to even be awarded a one star rating. The only thing they care about is being paid once that's done their service goes even more subpar. I wouldn't be leaving a review like this if they had treated me with just a slight bit of professionalism but in my opinion that does not exist there. Do your research there are much better attorneys out there that will do a much better service for you and your money will go a lot farther.

Started BK in 2018, discharged a few months ago. I am so ready to write this. Do not use services provided by the people in this office. They are not helpful and pass judgement with every interaction. If you need to feel worse about yourself and your situation, give these guys a call. Otherwise, find someone who actually cares. Because these people act like they don't.

I found the experience with Rulon T Burton & Associates to be somewhat lacking. I received my discharge letter today and have waited five years to write this review. When we initially met with Justin Burton there was no warmth or patience with my questions. It was my first (and hopefully only) bankruptcy filing and I had a lot of questions. I had done quite a bit of research online but still wanted a conversation and was only choosing a Chapter 13 after struggling for two years to get out of the financial hole we were in. Justin seemed rushed, didn't really take the time to answer our many questions unless it was a vague, generic answer. He just wanted our info so he could draw up the paperwork then sent us on our way. At the meeting of creditors we arrived early and had no clue what to do. Other attorneys were there and preparing their filers for the meeting. We even had an attorney approach us and ask if we were with his firm. When we said that we were with Rulon T Burton he said, "Oh, he's always late." It was true. He rushed in at the last minute and told us where to sit and to just answer the questions. We felt very lost and unsure of ourselves in that meeting. That set the tone for our entire experience. I was involved in car accident shortly after we had filed and had to pay approx. $800 for him to file a form to say I could have the money from the lawsuit for my no fault accident and it wouldn't be applied to our bankruptcy. He was very cavalier about it and didn't seem the least bit concerned that I had been in an accident on top of everything else. Don't misunderstand me. I was not looking for someone to hold my hand or visit me out of concern. I was hoping for a sliver of remorse over the amount he HAD? to charge me for the form and the circumstances I was in. I received nothing. Most of the time I dealt with Scott because I simply didn't want to talk to Justin. Scott was ok but again, I felt warmth was missing. The only time I got friendly kindness from Justin was when I called to answer the final questions in preparation to finalize the discharge. It was too little too late and I wasn't interested in having a conversation with him. Bankruptcy is an absolutely miserable experience by itself and you would think you could rely on your bankruptcy attorney to "lighten the load" a bit with some kindness and patience. Nope, not here. If you just want someone to get it done this may be the place for you but if you are looking for a little more you may want to go somewhere else.
