Package Store LLC

The package store in Rainsville,AL is a crook. My wife and I had a letter that needed to be overnighted from Rainsville,AL to Chester,GA. He charged us $43 to have the “letter” overnighted, only to get up the next day, and find out the letter hadn’t even left Rainsville. When we go and ask him, his response was, when I turn it over to the postal service, it’s out of my hands. I paid for overnight service, and this guy sent it regular mail, and charged us $43.00. If I could give him 0 stars, I would have. The guy that runs this store is a crook!!! Now that this jerk sent the letter regular mail, I won’t be able to see my son until November or later, all because he wanted to rip us off and put over $40 in his pocket. We will NEVER use this store again.

Lonnie, the owner, is abrasive and angry, every time I've gone in, but, hey, everybody has bad days. He seems to take a question or fixable disagreement as an act of war. I tried to have a respectful conversation to find middle ground, but he escalated it to yelling, "Get out of my store!" I responded in kind. I'm not proud of sinking to his level, but it never should have come to that. It's well worth going to Dollar General, Auto Zone or even to Fyffe or Fort Payne for better service, where you won't risk getting your head bitten off if you ask a question or, god forbid, disagree with Lonnie. I see from other reviews I'm not alone. Kudos to the reviewer who pointed out that two of the five-star reviews were posted by Lonnie, roundly complimenting himself. That's hilarious. Run some of his other positive, similarly worded one-sentence reviews through an app called Fakespot.

For reference (and it will probably be deleted once he reads this) Lonnie Hale is the owner and two of the five star reviews below are his. There’s probably more under different names, because it would be hard to believe that many people think that highly of their experience. I’ve been in twice. Both times he was rude and almost aggressive in demeanor. I’ll never return. Take your packages to Auto Zone or Dollar General for drop offs.

The owner "Lonnie" has zero customer service skills! I've never seen such disrespect to a customer in all my life.....furthermore, everyone I have talked to about my experience today has had a similar experience with him and there is absolutely NOTHING we can do but drive 20 more miles to mail a Fed Ex package. RUDE don't even touch the surface of this encounter!! NEVER again will I darken the doors! How are you still in business?

Great store. The owner is knowledgeable and helpful in getting things shipped, etc.

Very knowledgeable and patient about explaining the differences as to The Package Store being an "Authorized Shipping Center" and a FedEx Kinko's franchised store owned by FedEx that there are certain things a "Authorized Shipping Center" can and can't do that the FedEx Kinko's can do as a "Free" service that "The Package Store" can't do for free. Will help with printing labels and getting them sent to the store email address, the times I have went into this store will be two to three people doing business and he is trying to help everyone at the same time. Very lucky and fortunate to have this store here in Rainsville making it very convenient for the local people.

Always have a great experience when shipping through the Package Store. Lonnie is always helpful and willing to go above and beyond what he has to do to help. I always go to him to send UPS and FEDEX packages!
