Insurance has become an inherently greedy and selfish industry. There are a few things I would like to make clear; I have been insured through agencies these folks represent for over a decade and I have not made a single claim or wrecked into someone else that would have made a claim. With that out of the way, this year there were two incidents that bother me a great deal. First; I had something, that was absolutely no fault of my own, happen to my roof that caused damage. I called to explain what happened and then explained the damage. After that I wanted to know what my options were(I never once suggested that I wanted my entire roof replaced. In fact, I had just reroofed and it looks great). The first thing the person on the phone said was, in an extremely snarky tone, "We won't replace the whole roof, you know that, right? We would ONLY try to fix the exact problem." It was insulting. I then decided that these people weren't worth dealing with, hung up on the person, spent a couple thousand dollars, and fixed it myself.

Secondly, about six months later, I had a toolbox get away from me and hit the back of my car hard. It was a brand new car. I called down and was basically told that if I submitted a claim that it would cost me MUCH more in the long run through my premiums raising... WHAT? a single claim, a first claim after a decade, should absolutely NOT increase my premiums.
What an absolute racket.
