Legal Aid sucks 2 years ago I filled a divorce papers and still waiting for some one to contact me, every time I call is a new person saying she doesn't have any info gave the name number G M he didn't return my call. They are good for nothing maybe they only help White people!

INTAKE:
Intake specialist CHRISTIAN "Chris" is rude and off-putting. Both via the phone and in the courthouse onsite intake. If he is the unfortunate person you encounter, try another day. The added day is better than dealing with someone who seemingly hates his job.

PHONE:
You can be on hold for 30mins, 1hr, etc, if you are on hold and the lunch hour occurs, your call WILL be dropped. That is so terrible. At least finish the calls on hold rather than have these people in dire straits start all over again. Even IF just to take their contact and place them on a numbered call list in the order they were received.

CONSULT:
During the consultation call, be prepared to speak a mile a minute because they will remind you constantly that they have to go. Even before a 30-45-60 minute mark. All your issues boiled down to mere minutes.

The things people have to go through to get assistance against bullish companies/landlords/etc.

Useless organization that gives already very vulnerable populations with bad legal advice, causing them to plunge further into dispair and poverty. Whoever runs this organization need to be fired, and this whole organization should be DEFUNDED and DISMANTLED. What an utter waste of federal and local government funding. Website is constantly not working, no one answers the phone, and then you can finally get through to someone and assigned an attorney, they don't answer emails or phone calls in a timely manner, if at all, and essentially abandon you, like Ms. Elizabeth Marie Brown. Or tell you they can't come to your hearing because they didn't go to the first calendaring summons, didn't ask the opposing counsel or the judge to change the court date, and then tell you that you have ZERO GROUNDS OF DEFENSE (after you had to draft your own pleading because they refused), which is absurb and horrible bad legal advice.

Legal Services of Northern Virginia has helped my family on multiple occasions. I found them to be professional and caring. They took the case seriously, and worked hard to win the case and provided a lot of guidance and support. Overall, I'd recommend them highly if you need legal services in the area!

I wouldn’t ask for any advice from this firm. The lawyer I spoke to was very misleading and provided inaccurate details. He spoke condescendingly about my landlord, using words professional personnel wouldn’t use. He called her an idiot. I left the 2 hour conversation frazzled. Luckily, my intuition told me to check on the information he provided and lo’ and behold he was completely off!! I’m not sure why Mr. Downey behaved the way that he did. The fact of the matter is he isn’t qualified to give legal advice. Elder law doesn’t qualify under tenant- landlord law.

He probably thinks he could get away with his behavior. Reflects poorly on the organization, and, worse, he’s misusing his position to take advantage of vulnerable people. Shame on you!

Called to follow up on my application and after kindly asking for some clarification on the qualifications, I heard a deep sigh from the representative then shortly after a brief explanation she kept wanting to hang up. I asked another reasonable question and after her answered she said okay bye and hung up. Agent 3202 Why do you work at a job that’s supposed to be helping people in need when you are so miserable? Pathetic is an understatement. You should be ashamed of yourself. I called back and another agent did a very great job of answering my questions.

This entity is on the Landlord's side. Why do they claim to assist you, but give the Chinese landlord advice infront of you? In addition, that court is doing some suspect mess like taking out my case out of the recorded Court room and sending them to a non recorded court room. Only a judge, a baliff and the two parties. Why don't they try all cases where they were assigned? Because, they are committing illegal judgements! Fairfax Count District Court!

They do not return calls or emails. String you along for months with their own issues and point out that your case is not a priority. Maybe they are working here because they cannot cut it at a real firm or they are like interns in the medical world trying to get experience before entering the real world.

If time is money, this free service is the most expensive service around.
