Not helpful and very misleading about what they offer. I was told to call Legal Aid to have a few legal questions answered. I do not need to hire a lawyer but needed a few questions answered for a legal issue I have been dealing with.
The woman started out very helpful and kind. She asked me to describe what I needed and she could help further. I informed her I just needed a few questions answered and asked if this was something they could help with. She stated they did help in that way and told me explaining my case would help her connect me to a lawyer that could help.
I explained in detail and she abruptly cut me off and said I needed to call someone else. All of the sudden she can no longer help and told me they do not provide that type of service. I was very confused and asked what changed from the beginning of the call. She then informed me that she was not Legal Aid and was a personal business owner that found clients to refer to attorneys for a fee. She couldn’t explain further but stated her job was to simply find people that need attorneys and she refers people to the attorneys for the finder’s fee (not her term, but same type of fee). She then told me to call the same number to speak with someone from Legal Aid. I asked how that worked, as she was the only person to answer and there are no phone prompts. She said she didn’t know but I should call back, then hung up.
Very frustrating and not helpful.
