12 years ago I lost my license due to a failure to appear for a ticket after I had moved away from Colorado. Since California shares a tracking service with Colorado, I'm unable to get a driver's license here.
I called the county courthouse several years ago and was told that I couldn't do it over the phone due to a bench warrant for nonpayment/failure to appear. I was told I had to present myself to be arrested and would then know what violations I had and pay them. PLUS(!), the price of an airfare and related travel costs. One attorney I called told me that he would charge $1,500 for his fee, then the cost of fines, etc.
I did not hire him and now, many years later, I was planning a trip to Colorado to finally put this issue behind me. In my head I thought this might be around $2,000 and maybe an attorney could better negotiate my penalties. I was referred through a friend to Lisa B. Santos. Lisa told me what I could do myself and, if needed, she would only charge an hourly fee. And that it could be handled over a phone or online. 5 minutes later, my fines were waived and I had a document emailed to me to present to the California DMV.
Total cost = $95 !!!!
Lisa would not accept any payment. She saved me the budgeted $2000. And, I am now an enthusiastic cheerleader for Lisa B. Santos, Attorney at Law. She cares more about helping you than lining her pockets. And, she's, in general, a very pleasant person

Ms Santos was informative and attentive from the time when we first met. I was facing a pretty serious charge and some serious consequences to go along with it. I was worried about time away from my family, my baby and my job. I felt heard and understood and always like I was being dealt with honestly about what likely would happen.
Once the facts were presented in discovery, it seemed we had a strong defense. Thats when Ms Santos really went to bat for me. Instead of having to go to court a bunch of times and get locked up or do probation or community service etc etc, she got everyone to agree to a very reasonable outcome.
Obviously every case is different but I would absolutely hire Lisa Santos again if need be. "Case dismissed" is right up there with "beers cold" in the running for best 2 word phrases in our language.
