Utah 50/50 state laws need to be changed, I was forced into mediation where Laura told me completely something different then my lawyer, she told my what a judge will do and I will be worse off to not agree either my ex, first of all my ex did nothing financially for his kids that don’t matter, my ex claims I was never on his account yet I was and he took me off taking $15,000 in the bank! Do I get half that no I would have to split my bank account with my mom gave me $5000 for a lawyer that don’t count it was for my lawyer, in the spring I gave my ex $3000 he would pay me back also I was dumb and bought a trailer so my ex can goto lineman school and travel yet it’s in my name my ex left it for me and reduces to make the payment! Also my ex got a personal loan that is in his name I’m stuck paying half of that even though I already paid my half! I put $6000 down on my truck and made the payment till 2023 when my ex took my truck temporarily for school cause I was nice! I had to fight hard for my truck which I’m going to need it! My ex makes over $7000 a month now because of me being so supportive he left the home and left me with a lot of his bills witch I was told he wasn’t supposed to quit paying on. How is this 50/50 I’m homeless am being forced to quit my jobs and sell my home I can afford now and will not be able to afford another. I was told I will be forced to sell home and all vehicles all debt even if it’s not mine is 50/50 none of this is right and my marriage was not 50/50 yes I will get equity it’s not worth my life my jobs my home . I believe that law don’t look at what happened and what is right he got everything and took so much from me and paying a mediator $900 was forced of me my half as long as your forced to have a lawyer at mediation, my advice do not waist your time on lawyers you are forced to have a mediator tell you your fate and I already paid more then my half in the marriage it was not 50/50 he already got a place of his own and I lost mine he never paid for anything inside or outside the home I did from sod to sprinkler system to 75 percent of the fence to concrete fence garden all the flowers every year, paint, anything broke I had to replace my ex refused yet h am the one who made that equity more and still it has no be 50/50 so all his debt witch I did not have any debt plus having to pay a relitor I’m getting screwed and it comes out of my equity! Just before you get married do your research on laws! My sister lives in a different state and was able to use video proof and her texts messages also Laura told me that’s not binding that my ex told me he will pay me back or I have evidence of a lot. This is all a joke. I don’t recommend Laura she will not be fair and tell you what you will be told by the judge it’s marital debt period! Even if it’s not in your name it’s not right I don’t make close to my ex being married 10 years also I was told an amount by my lawyer they told me I wouldn’t get crap also he lied on his financial declaration that I can prove and why did my ex not have to show documentation of his lies. My whole marriage was a lie my ex had a plan and it came out and I got used and left with nothing! My home was everything to me, I have two pugs also and no where Togo homeless at least I got my truck maybe I can live in that! You can go from having a home to have it ripped from you just like that oh mind you it’s my place of work as well has been. I’m forced to quit my jobs and have no where Togo.

This happened late 2020.
To be clear she may have been lied to by the now ex wife, however when she walked into the room with me and my lawyer she asked her first question.
Her: "Why should you get the home?"
Me: "Because I still reside there."
Her: "But why should you get it when she is paying for the house and all the bills?"
I was dumbfounded.
Me: "She hasn't paid for anything since she left the house 6 months earlier."
Her: "That is not what she put on her disclosure."
Me: "I am aware of that. So instead go ask her for the bank statement that shows you she is paying for anything. Go on, we will await your return."
Yeah maybe I shouldn't have gone that route, but she was far from neutral to start the whole mediation process off. She told me leaving to go to my daughters volleyball game should not be of importance and that my daughter would understand not having her parents there to support her if it meant staying later to argue over more things. Then when the first round ended she told me the total was $732 for 7 hours 15 minutes at $100 a hour. I couldn't leave it alone. I asked how she reached that amount and she said something along the lines of, I don't do well with numbers, but that's what the calculator says. Is it wrong?
Do yourself a favor and find any other mediator.

Laura is a true professional, anyone who complains likely is not understanding her role. Her job is not to give legal advice, it is to ensure that both parties are following legal standards. It is not her job to ensure parties are being truthful.

Had Laura yesterday for our divorce mediation. I'll tell you right now if your a father run the other way this lady is a joke she was on the woman's side since the start throwing around outrageous numbers telling me what judge will do if I take it to court. She was a worthless waste if money and should not be a Mediator do not use her if your a father!!!
