To say the least, this lady is a clever liar and manipulator which may be a compliment in this field of work, but just to be clear, in no way is this review to serve for her better interest. I hope to save an honest, ethical, limited income parent in a challenging situation from a bad outcome. The things this lady was able to get away with in court was criminal.

Would give zero stars if I could this woman is rude , entitled, and terrible at being punctual. she also thinks it's ok to practically beat your door down, and show up without a 24 hour notice. then assumes the worst of you if your not the one making the most money. she may also be a "bribe taker ". I wouldn't trust her be warned , always be ready for her to show up because she thinks shes some sort of probation officer. ( and can't even offer a courtesy call the day before to defendants. ) she also is one sided and biased. also another terrible tragedy is she thinks little of you if your neurodivergent not realizing how smart neurodivergent people are. she seen one wine bottle in my trash can from cooking the day before and tried to say i was an alchoholic because I had another wine bottle in my room to recycle and create wax art with. (There was nothing in my case about alcoholism either. Lol) I upcycle art so just be warned she is a pompous presumptuous snob .

Nela went above and beyond in our case. She thoroughly cares about the best interests in a child. She is not biased but honest, when it comes to the child. She cares about her job, the clients, but most of all the children involved. I would recommend her to anyone.

This is the 3rd GAL I've been involved with and by far the most thorough and sensitive to the needs of the children, which is her job. She is NOT here to represent either parent, but only to represent the children, and she does an excellent job with that. Keep in mind when looking at these reviews that there are always two parents involved when a GAL is enlisted. Frequently, one feels slighted by the GAL and the other is favorable. No one is more thorough than Ms Laughridge, and no one will look out more for the interests of the children.

She is corrupt at the least. She is biased in favor of the party she likes the most. If you're a mixed race couple getting a divorce she'll side with whomever is white. If you're white it's a toss up. If you're black, she'll side with whatever party appears closest to white. She doesn't make each party adhere to the same protocol. For example, she will ask one side for a psych evaluation and not ask the other party to do so( the party she favors). She charges enormous prices and if you have difficulty paying, you could potentially go to jail of you cannot afford her. She has to do a report and if she doesn't like you, she will wait until the day of court literally when you are walking in to hand you the paperwork. If you're actually telling the truth, you are the party she will be biased against. She is hurting children. If you actually care for your children, do anything to stay away from this corrupt and disgusting individual. I can't even call her a human being. She ruins the lives of children and parents that love them.

NELA LAUGHRIDGE should NOT be allowed to be a Guardian ad Litem! She is absolutely Corrupt and it NEEDS to be brought to light! Corrupt criminally or through sheer willful negligence. Her behavior was despicable & deplorable! She not only failed in her sole duty to be and remain an unbiased agent of the court, ready to submit upon judicial request, a fair an objective report based on her honest observations or opinions thereof but, also FAILED MISERABLY in her Fundamental Purpose to serve that which is in the Best Interest of the Children! SAD but, UNDENIABLY TRUE! Her words & actions have to be held to account! She repeatedly exposed herself as being horribly biased, rendered incapable of carrying out her duties due to various personal conflicts of interest or possibly, supremely focused on prolonging the case to wrongfully scrape as much money from it as she could. I can make strong arguments with solid evidence to support claims for all of the above. But WORST of all, NELA haphazardly operated counter to that which was in the Kid's Best Interests and indeed, on several occasions, literally put my children's welfare in jeopardy! I am a single Father. As a Father, I am protective & Value my Children's best interests HIGHLY. Even if that meant it might be best for them NOT to be with me. So, I am NOT just an upset parent lashing out because I didn't get my way...The fact is, I was awarded primary Custody two times over but, after the Mother of my children (Defendant) absconded with our children across the country, (as I feared she might and stated as much in my initial court filings) I started to feel HELPLESS & HOPELESS! Utterly alone in the absurd ridiculousness of it all, while my children suffered at the mercy of this court's inadequacies to properly remedy our deteriorating custody situation. Simultaneously disadvantaged tremendously by our "GAL" that seemed aloof at best & at worst, Malicious! Even DANGEROUS! To be specific, her most egregious assault on us happened after I quit a Great Job to find & reacquire my children from the other side of the Country. I had learned that the Defendant left them (with family) while she lived, worked & played on the OPPOSITE COAST! When I finally managed to safely return home with them, I quickly emailed NELA a detailed overview of why I felt IMMEDIATE ACTION had to be taken to prevent the Defendant from ABSCONDING AGAIN! Further destabilizing & terrorizing our lives & home! NELA also received my packet with extensive evidence to substantiate my claims. Due to the Defendant's numerous death threats, disparaging remarks in front of the kids + her troubling, erratic behavior, I impressed upon NELA (our ONLY OPTION for an emergency hearing at that time) for the sake of the CHILDREN'S BEST INTERESTS, the vital importance of quickly getting us in front of a Judge. I sought to TEMPORARILY revoke the Defendant's visitation rights until she could show the court that necessary & positive changes had been made. Needless to say, NELA, in dereliction of duty as she SO was, DENIED this needed request based on HER opinion that there was NOT good reason (Mother whom is in constant violation of a custody agreement + kidnaps kids across the country then abandons them and is now posturing to do it again is, NOT GOOD ENOUGH REASON!?!) to call for such a hearing. But that wasn't the jaw breaker!!! What made Nela officially corrupt was that after she denied my justified request, she then, as if she was an attorney working for the DEFENDANT, forwarded my private detailed pleading for assistance & future plan to legally restrict the Defendant's access to the children, DIRECTLY TO THE IRRATIONALLY & IRRESPONSIBLY BEHAVING crazy Mommy Bear!!! I guess as a kind of, MOTHER 2 MOTHER "Heads Up" play to the Defendant! Disclosing everything! Which of course, shot the Defendant into deliberate IRESPONSIBLE action that culminated in the Defendant absconding once again with our children at the very next opportunity she had to exercise her right to legal visitation. Why would someone not give Nela a five star. I've never had anyone fight for me as hard as her. If you give Nela less than a five star rating, you need to see what your doing wrong
