What is this county court doing? Allowing immigrants with criminal Record get sole decision making of a minor child? When mother has no criminal record and has a legal status in the United States? Because that’s what Andrew Poland did to my child this past July 11 in courtroom 410…. Someone explain to me how is the court protecting a criminal and giving him all the rights

If you’re a minority don’t even come to this courthouse it’s nothing but a waste of time and money. I went here because I was trying to get my money back from an individual and I was treated like I did something wrong. It was nothing but white people so that should have let know how my case was going to go.

This court does not protect victims of violent crime. They target women who have been victims of violent crime and try to take their children away without standing while simultaneously protecting the true perpetrator of domestic violence and violent crime.

Mary, in civil/juvenile. Was exceptional. Someone buy her something nice. This is a helpful and friendly government employee. Those are practically unheard of and are usually dismissed as folklore.

It's a beautifully building . Very bright. Unless your in the handcuffs then you won't see the light of day .

I had high hopes for this new (well new to me) Jefferson County Court. I guess I drove by it a lot, but didn’t give it much thought. After a time I decided it was time to switch things up, add a little spice to my life, and give this place a try. Now, I hadn’t heard anything about this judge before, but that didn’t stop me.

I guess from the beginning the pace of the experience seemed off. Not that they were rushing me through, but they definitely go at their own speed. I’m not up on how all the pieces of our judicial system work, and I made an error by talking to a DA, who decided from that conversation to tack on an extra charge (which is what I was found guilty of) which hasn’t sat right with me since. As for the judge, it’s hard to put, because aloof doesn’t seem correct. I guess I’d say, more of a rank and file official than a free thinker, hell maybe just not a thinker, just a reader of case law.

My appointed court companion was just incredible though. I can’t say enough good things. She kept me informed and I thought she did a great job.

In the end a jury of my peers found me not guilty of the most egregious charge. However, guilty of the “per se” (as ridiculous as it sounds) charge which is the extra charge I stupidly handed to the DA.

All in all, I wouldn’t suggest it. Also, the support staff (different offices around the building) are horrible. Uninformed, lazy and not helpful.

A family member of mine had a case conducted with this court that I attended as a witness. The magistrate she had was Honorable Jamin Alabiso. Court feels very intimidating to me, even though I wasn’t the one being judged. I never thought I’d write a review for a courthouse but I feel like the magistrate was someone that needs recognition for his work. His sophistication and level of knowledge in law is impressive. Honorable is the perfect word to describe this magistrate and we were very fortunate to have him working on the trial.

Went in with a friend. He had questions about discounts on homeowners taxes. There is a discount for over 65. Never knew that.
