The attorney I was assigned to was very difficult to deal with. Condescending attitude and spoke. very. slowly. I appreciate the small amount of useful information I got from him, but I would never recommend this place.

Legal Aid Is a joke lol. Wouldn’t help me with my legal matters. Hints there name says Legal Aid ? one of the supervisors is RUDE. But not my business if someone doesn’t like there job ? not to mention. The supervisor wouldn’t help me do an intake. Because he said “ we don’t do that here” ( what I needed help with) mhm sure.

Legal Aid is a detriment to the residents , small businesses and landlords of Central Iowa.
A person would be best served if you Google The Iowa bar then their website Find a Lawyer. There you'd get a return call from a bona-fide respectable counselor.

Iowa Legal Aid has been recommended for me on many different legal, civil, or housing issues I have had in the past 3-5 years. I feel it would be helpful for individuals to be informed in advance that the only way to actually receive support or assistance is to have a very low housing income as well as other qualifications that most do not fall under. Although I do appreciate the minimal assistance that has been provided, I find myself asking why I took time to contact them every time. I wonder who are you actually assisting, who is actually making it past the initial process over phone, and are those who are being assisted actually getting their issues resolved. Or are these cases just practice for paralegals and attorneys?

It's a simple website to navigate, with clear labeled category headers, and links rerouted appropriately. Simple to use as a reference site. I found the information I required easily and without any hassle.

Called to ask a couple of questions and they refused to help me or answer any legal questions. I said I dont think I qualify for legal aid based off income but she wouldnt tell me what the cutoff was. They are no help

Just wondering if legal aid has ever helped anyone..? I was in a auto accident and the insurance company won't give me the other drivers name ...so legal aid won't help me...didn't even get past the application...

They are limited in their scope to support requests for legal advice and support.

It would be nice if they were able to receive greater funding and expand their services to the community.
