After over a year with Dave as the special master, nothing has improved—except his bank account. My boyfriend’s ex wife constantly violates their court orders, which clearly state she can’t message him about his day-to-day activities or micromanage his time with the kids or send derogatory messages. She still does it—and if we don’t let her control everything from what clothes they should wear to what activities they need to be doing or instantly respond to messages when she wants to stir up drama, she calls him a horrible parent and impossible to work with. She’s even sent derogatory messages, caused scenes in public, and lied about it. When proof is provided, Dave’s solution was to ban audio recordings, giving her even more freedom to stir up trouble.

Instead of holding her accountable, Dave just blames them both, even though it’s completely one-sided. She’ll send a dozen nasty, character-attacking messages, and my boyfriend will send one message telling her to stop—and somehow, Dave acts like they’re equally at fault. Then he charges both of them, as if that’s fair or productive.

Dave is lazy. He takes forever to respond to violations, doesn’t bother to do his homework and check facts, and refuses to hold irrational, dramatic people accountable. It’s like he’s fine with her stirring up drama as long as he keeps getting paid. If you want someone who actually enforces rules and cares about fairness, avoid Dave.

I’ve dealt with Dave for years, working with him twice as a mediator and once as a special master, so I have a solid basis to judge his work. His performance has been consistently poor across all roles. His court submissions are riddled with errors—misspellings, grammar mistakes etc.

As a special master his work is even worse. He doesn’t review evidence properly and charges both parties for baseless claims. For example, my ex-wife accused me of ignoring messages about a surgery, but her own evidence showed she never sent them. She was trying to use this as a distractor from other issues I had submitted and her tactic completely worked on him even though I had pointed this out to him I was still charged for his time addressing it, despite pointing out it wasn’t my fault. He avoids accountability, dismisses blatant violations, and charges both sides equally—even when one party is clearly at fault. Instead of enforcing agreements, he responds with vague, unhelpful quotes like, “If we did an eye for an eye and tooth for a tooth it leaves the whole world blind and toothless.” Serious issues like harassment and boundary violations are ignored. Even when the other party lies about it and you provide evidence. He then tells you to stop providing evidence and that if he needs it, he will ask for it then when you wait, he issues an order anyway, saying that he would’ve held the other party accountable if you had provided evidence. He’s extremely frustrating to work with.

It’s also worth noting that many of the positive reviews here are from his friends or coworkers—they openly admit to having worked with him. If you want professionalism, fairness, or accountability, especially as a special master, do not use Dave.
