I'm a patient of access health and through that I found out about Houston Volunteer Lawyers. The staff attorney Susan Soto has been the best help I've ever had from a lawyer I never even paid. She listens carefully to all of your issues. She will then clearly explain the legal aspects. She is prompt at doing what she says she will do. She is one of the best lawyers I have ever had the pleasure of meeting and working with. Someone please give her a raise!!

Called to set up the meeting but never bothered to call me during the hours they agreed to.
I called the office the next day and was told “they are still making calls give it another 24hr” gave it 24hrs.
Never got another call.

The example of lawyers that don’t care about anyone.
Lawyers should want to help and make a difference instead you get nothing from this law firm.

One of their lawyers, Jeremy, helped me out a lot! Got things removed from my record and took care of some probate stuff. He sacrificed a bunch of his own time to help out a stranger and I am very thankful.

Found my own probono lawyer on Reddit butshe said I had to go through HVL for her services. Despite yhe initial good vibes. Eventuallyconflicting opinion and communication issues were evident. HVL, Angeleese claimed I needed to basically be grateful for free help and that I was unable to receive a new attorney bc it was free and most don't recieve help. What does that have to do with me reapplying? The passive aggressive energy is wild and these ppl pick and choose who they want to help. Not fornthe greater good.

I simply don’t understand an organization that never answers their phone within the business hours stated on the website. Please someone explain it? Failing to follow up; in the interest of the agreed process. In conclusion, if this organization cannot operate within the terms of their own bylaws of the people, I think it’s fair to say from previous reviews this organization needs to be defunded and closed. Due to this point it’s just wasting the people’s time and taxpayers money.

It’s always the establishments that are supposed to be assisting the less fortunate that drop the ball the most, and it’s truly unfortunate for individuals who have no other options; which is why they usually do what they do anyways as far as dropping the ball goes.
Trying to seek assistance from this establishment is added stress on top of what the potential client may already be experiencing. I have experienced unethical, condescending, and incompetent Individuals who are employed at this office.
The majority lawyers are dishonest, and state that they have called individuals when in fact, they only let the phone ring once so that the person does not have enough time to answer and don’t leave a message, Or they just don’t call at all.
All I have to say for all individuals who work here that are moving in an unethical manner, is that no one EVER escapes KARMA remember that when you don’t know why situations in your life are not going as planned! To the representatives that are truly trying to do their jobs; may blessings be upon you.

I was called on the phone and told that lawyer was going to contact me on May 1, 2024 still to this day. No law you have reached out to me at all. I also sent you all an email informing you all that no one contacted me on the Monday after the first, and still, no one have reached out to me in reference to this matter. Obviously, my legal needs are no importance to you all And I find it be so mean and unprofessional.
