"My husband and I love the Hyatt properties and this one was wonderful. We visited in August 2024 and had a very relaxing stay. When we initially checked in, we were assigned a room where the elevator kept us up all night, and they were able to move us the next day. It was great to have a few dining options on property as well as the shuttle to the village to explore other options. They had an afternoon treat in the lobby each week which was a very nice touch. Overall, we loved our stay and would love to come back"

I recently stayed at the Grand Hyatt Vail, and while the property itself is beautiful, my experience at the front desk was mixed.

Vaihbav, one of the managers, should not be at the front desk—his customer service was horrendous. He was unhelpful and lacked the professionalism expected at a hotel of this caliber. Also do not expect late check out as a globalist! They might grant you 11:30 am if you’re lucky…

Some of the rooms are very loud so request a quiet room if possible.

On the other hand, Merit from Turkey was fantastic! He was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and went above and beyond to assist with any requests. His customer service truly stood out and made my stay much more enjoyable.

I hope the hotel recognizes the difference in service levels and ensures that every guest is met with the same warmth and professionalism that Merit provides.

A deeply mediocre hotel. I just got back from a two night stay. The rooms are…old. They are reminiscent of a Holiday Inn. For what the resort is charging, they are not really acceptable. The carpets in the elevators are frankly disgusting. The service from the front desk was downright bad. Half the time, they didn’t answer the phone, and the other half of the time, they didn’t do what they said they would do. I had a 0% success rate. Again, for a high end resort charging high end resort prices, this is not even remotely acceptable. The shuttle service and its drivers were very pleasant. But please, spend your money somewhere else.

Spacious rooms with beautiful views of the mountain or amenities. This particular location has two hot tubs and heated pool and the ski locker and on site rental shop are very convenient. Breakfast was not included, so every morning we had a wait time of 20 minutes to an hour to get a table with really, really, really, really slow service, and I know I wasn’t the only one trying to get on the mountain in a timely fashion, so I can’t give it five stars. Also because in 2025 we are still getting crappy shampoo and conditioner options (mine were thrown out at the airport, that was my bad,) and the room service was absolutely subpar with food that was by no means good, and barely warm. Also no wine opener to open the bottle of wine we had ordered.
As far as location: although it is a ski in ski out you should keep in mind that it’s in an area further away from the main lifts, and the terrain to get back to the hotel by skiing is either a blue catwalk or an off piste area, neither of which are friendly for a total beginner, so you or someone you’re with is a beginner you may want to ski down to a different part of town and take the complementary shuttle.

The Grand Hyatt Vail has become our go-to hotel every year around September! The atmosphere is peaceful, the rooms are absolutely dreamy, and the overall experience is always top-notch. It’s the perfect spot for a relaxing getaway, offering a quiet and romantic escape in the heart of the mountains.

One of our favorite features is the trail that connects directly to Vail Village, about three miles away—perfect for those who love to enjoy a scenic walk. If walking isn’t in the plans, their shuttle service runs conveniently until 10 PM, making trips to the village easy and stress-free. While we do miss the breakfast buffet and haven’t had the best experience with the current breakfast options, the other restaurants and the café on-site are good.

The heated pool and hot tubs are absolutely amazing, especially after a long day of exploring. We can’t wait for our next stay!

I had the wonderful opportunity to experience a stay at the Grand Hyatt Resort, and it was truly remarkable. This hotel beautifully merges luxury with the inviting ambiance of a mountain retreat.Upon arrival, I was warmly welcomed by the staff, making the check-in process effortless. My accommodation featured exquisite dĂŠcor and offered breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains from the balcony. Its location is superb, just a short stroll from both the ski slopes and the charming village. Overall, my experience at the Grand Hyatt Resort was amazing, and I eagerly anticipate my next visit!

Update: It took just over two months, but I was finally reimbursed in full for the windshield issue noted below.

Nice hotel, but fails to own up to to issues and resolve in a timely manner.

Stayed the week of Thanksgiving 2024 and had a great time (fresh snow while we were there which always helps). At breakfast in the restaurant off the lobby daily, food and service were excellent.

Access to ski slopes was decent, at the time we were there the Cascade lift was not open so took the shuttle to Lionshead and found it reasonably convenient. Note there is a set of stairs you must take to get from the Ski Valet to where the shuttle picks up/drops off.

We used the valet service for our vehicle. One day in the middle of our stay, we picked up the vehicle and noticed a large crack in the windshield that was not there prior. Mentioned to the valet staff, they had the manager come out a take a damage report, was told they would follow up. At the time it seemed like they handled it professionally enough, and we continued on with our ski trip without a worry, confident that Grand Hyatt Vail would resolve the issue.

Unfortunately, 1+ month after our stay is over, they have failed to reimburse us for a new windshield after repeated attempts to contact them and get resolution.

Buyer beware - if something goes wrong, Grand Hyatt Vail cannot be trusted to 'make things right'. Accidents and mistakes happen, everyone understands that, the true measure in the hospitality industry is how management responds. In this instance I have been supremely disappointed in the hotel's lack of response. Would not stay again due to this issue.

We got back from the Grand Hyatt Vail, and this was our second time visit but it was a mixed bag. Vail is as beautiful as ever, and Skiing in and out was the best, (but not for beginners!)
They really need to focus on improving their service and making the whole experience more consistent. It wasn't a bad stay, but when you're paying that much, you expect more. We enjoyed ourselves thanks to the location and some great staff members.
But, this experience has us looking at other options for our next trip, maybe the Park Hyatt Beaver Creek or something in Park City. I doubt we will return to Grand Hyatt Vail.

The Not-So-Good Stuff:
* Communication was a mess with Kalie, the Guest Experience Manager? before our trip, I couldn’t get any necessary informations.
* One of the front desk staffs for checking-in was unprofessional. Made some weird jokes that made me uncomfortable, and gave us the wrong info about breakfast.
* The Gessner Grill really needs some work. Breakfast was the same thing every single day, and the food wasn't good. Plus, the receptionists there weren't professional.
* The gym and hot tubs were not maintained well. They smelled weird, and just didn't seem very clean.
* The whole service thing felt inconsistent. It wasn't as good as when we were there three years ago for Thanksgiving. They need to get their act together, no matter when people visit.

The Good Stuff:
* The location and ski in and out for above intermittent were amazing.
* Some of the staff were awesome. The folks at the cafe and the valet guys were super friendly and on top of things. And the ski in/ski out crew were as great as we remembered them from our trip a few years back. Also, Kym and Danielle really helped us out after some initial issues, and Maureen was so kind.
* General Manager, David, you see him trying so hard..
