As a family law attorney, I have been fortunate enough to have Andy Flink mediate my cases many, many times over the past 10 years. Andy is phenomenal. He uses his business acumen as well as his personal history to bring an incredibly well-informed and empathetic perspective that gets cases settled. Andy creates a comfortable atmosphere which transforms what would typically be a stressful situation into a hopeful, reasonable and thoughtful process with Andy's goal always being to make it as amicable as possible. There are a lot of mediators in my experience who simply shuttle offers back/forth with little vested interest in resolution. I had the opportunity to observe Andy in mediation so I could receive my registration hours as a mediator. What an absolute pleasure it was! No wonder he is the #1 mediator in the Atlanta area!! He prepares his own Marital Balance Sheet and updates the numbers throughout the mediation. This MBS not only shows the parties as the mediation progresses who is getting what on which side of the ledger, but also keeps track of each and every offer made and how close or far apart they are from the previous offer. This goes a long way in showing progress which can help the parties feel encouraged during this difficult process. It is also an incredible visual tool for many people who really do not understand their own finances especially if they are not the primary person who takes care of the finances. I believe this really sets Andy apart from other mediators. Not only that, but when working on an agreement and the parties or counsel seem stuck on specific terms which would really help the parties to agree and move on, Andy proactively suggests language that often times works for that exact situation and solves the problem at the same time. Without a doubt, anyone who mediates with Andy knows, if you schedule a mediation with him, he will be effective, professional, and there is an excellent chance that their dispute will get settled.

I have been practicing family law for over 30 years and have worked with dozens of mediators. In my experience most are good, but very few are great. Andy is one of the very few. He has the ability to get to the heart of what it will take to get the case settled. That doesn’t mean that I or my client will always like what he has to say, but simply reaffirming the client’s (or lawyer’s) beliefs about their case isn’t the mediator’s role. Andy understands that getting the parties to a resolution that will allow them to move past their divorce and get on with their lives is the true mediator’s calling and that is where Andy excels.
