Arresting a parent because a 11yr old decided to walk to the store on his own is ridiculous. We have kids walking around our town at that age all the time. They also ride their bikes around the neighborhood alone all the time. No one gets arrested for this. You should be ashamed for even pursuing charges against this mother. Don't you have any real criminals to prosecute.

You are a world class authoritarian if you believe a 10 year old (almost 11) walking to the store less than a mile from his home (a practice of every generation of American children until about 5 seconds ago) is deserving of charges for the mother. Any ADA pursuing charges should be fired on the spot and his/her name released to public immediately. The public should have the opportunity to treat him/her as the power-hungry authoritarian he/she is.

Absolutely disgusting morals and ethics. Willing to separate a mother from her four children for letting her 10 year old walk to a store less than a mile away. You should be ashamed that you are pursuing this case and representing the DA’s office of any county. Instead apologizing for the inconvenience, dropping charges and chalking it up to an overzealous sherrif’s deputy, you are willing to go after this woman. Get over your ego and admit it was wrong and drop the charges. If not, good luck with the voters next election cycle. I was born into a family of law enforcement officers and this makes officers and the DA’s office look horrible. USE YOUR BRAIN!
