For the past eight months, I have unexpectedly had to pay for nursing home care for my mother. I am trying to apply for Medicaid to help with the cost of her care, but she owns a small asset that will prevent her from being approved. I reached out to this firm after searching online for elder care attorneys in my area. They seemed folksy and down to earth on their YouTube channel. On their website, you can schedule a free ten-minute consultation by phone. I did that. The time for the call came and went; there was no call. I reached out via email, but got no response. I called the office, and a gentleman answered the phone. I explained that I had scheduled a call but no one had called me. He said, "Oh, was that Monday?" No apology. He said he was not an attorney but could help me. I explained my situation and was abruptly told that I should have contacted them before we had gone through her money paying for her care. He said they really couldn’t help me and her assets weren’t worth much of anything. I asked a couple of questions that were met with hurried answers. It was obvious he was ready to be off the phone and done with me. I have never been through this situation before, so I certainly didn’t make all the right decisions. Nonetheless, I am trying to do the best I can at this point for my mother, and it is incredibly stressful. There was not a bit of kindness or compassion expressed during that phone conversation. I understand there are limited options at this point, but there was not even any basic pleasantry that you would expect from a business call. I work in healthcare and interact with sick and hurting people every day. I would never dream of saying, "Well, you shouldn’t have made all those bad lifestyle choices, and you wouldn’t have stage 4 cancer now." Basic kindness is a powerful thing. The attorneys at this firm may be amazing, but I can’t speak to that. I can say, however, that their intake person does them a great disservice.

Since the original review, I did have a phone consultation with Doug. He was very kind and answered my pressing questions. If I have the need for legal care moving forward, I feel confident in seeking his services. The follow up to my initial review was gracious and professional. If this is an indication of their services, I believe they are a class act. Thank you Doug.
