I honestly don't even know where to start. There is a lot to this story, and I won’t be telling it here. I was personally asked by two police officers here in Colorado Springs that were nice enough to even follow up on this case with me and how things ended up. Once I told them what happened they urged me to write this review. Because they have heard of NUMERIOUS people/victims bad experience with the office of the district attorney, victim witness unit. I've lived in Colorado Springs for over 15 years and am a divorced mother of two beautiful boys. Never been arrested, or in any trouble with the law and I was treated like I was the criminal. I was never believed, stood up for, or acknowledged as a victim. I was discriminated against because of who my assaulter was. It’s true what they say that the criminals get more rights than you do. I don't know how I was able to be assaulted in public, on camera, in front of my son and he was found not guilty. Nevertheless, how I was presented in that court room and how they didn’t even try was the absolute worst part of the whole story. You are a number you are a job, and they DO NOT CARE about you. I was completely made out to be the problem when I was pleading for help and understanding. I know for a fact that my DA and his attorney would talk about me and talk about the case, only normal, but I knew from the start they were working together to keep him safe. It all makes sense now with how everything played out, how they didn't do their job, how unimportant they made my case, how they told me that I was pretty much screwed, how they were never able to give me any guidance or ANYTHING because they knew all along, they were just trying to keep me quite and him safe. My ABUSER told me himself what his attorney and my DA were saying about me. Sadly, none of this doesn’t make a difference what's done is done. What my DA did in that court room was a JOKE and they made a non-believer out of me in the Justice system here. Do yourself a favor and don’t trust them, stick up for yourself and be prepared for the worst-case scenario because they don’t care. If you’re ever in a situation like this or must work with the DA office, hire your own defense team. Remember that they are not there for you or for the people, they are not going to remember you or your case, and you must fight for yourself no matter how hard they try to keep you down.
