Cordell cost me thousands of dollars and then I had to pay a different attorney to clean up their mess. Kathleen didn't know basic elements of Colorado family law and charged me to do "research" after she created an embarrassing situation with opposing counsel. She made several errors with simple calculations (e.g. the numerical difference between bi-weekly and semi-monthly) and had to be corrected by the mediator and opposing counsel. Eventually it became clear that she'd completely lost control of my case and began seeking direction from opposing counsel. The motion she wrote was a mess and had to be completely re-written.
What's worse, I noticed early on that they relentlessly inflate the billable hours with reports that aren't helpful or requested. The legal counsel I received felt like paying a grad student to write essays and learn through trial and error. My case was simple and Kathleen made it into a costly nightmare. Fortunately, I found a very good attorney to replace Kathleen and things have gone much better since. Having to fire an attorney and find a replacement 6 weeks Before trial is not fun. Trust me, you don't want to learn this the hard way. Find a better law firm.

1 star because 0 isn’t an option. I hired a “Lead Attorney,” Christine Dolan, at $50 more per hour than others assuming she would be better. I guess you don’t always get what you pay for. Even the “Senior Litigation attorney,” Kevin stoner would not return any of the 3 calls or emails to him pleading to contact me to oversee this. 1 month and $40,000 later I hired another attorney with a different firm to undo her mistakes. Making that move was the best decision I could have made as it has worked out better than I could have imagined. Unfortunately, it seems to be isolated to the Colorado Springs office, I have representation with Cordell and Cordell in another state and they have been fantastic. Even when a client care representative contacted me in attempt to make things right I was let down again. They argued that they were justified in their actions which I should have expected, do you think a law firm would admit they were wrong as opposed to arguing? You’d have better luck getting blood out of a stone. I just wished they argued as hard for me while in court. I have no doubt in my mind that a circus clown would be better equipped to handle your legal issues than this office would.

Worse than Worthless! When I approached Cordell and Cordell I had been married one year with my wife wanting $50k. After being billed a year with them, I ended up having to shell out over $120k. I had expected Cordell and Cordell to review my case and provide legal counsel on the best approach in obtaining a fair settlement. They provided nothing of the sort. Their focus seemed more on billable hours. Just because you are paying them doesn't mean they have your best interest in mind. The assigned attorney, Kevin Stoner, proved to be completely useless.

Beware of this law firm! My first attorney left the firm without warning a week after filing. I wish I had followed him! I was then assigned Kevin Stoner. He was absolutely worthless. He did not listen to anything I had to say. Nor did he address any of my concerns. There was very little helpful advice given, even after I was assaulted three times by my now ex-wife. In the end, the divorce was finalized, even though the type of "advocacy" and pass-through legal work to the tune of about $30000.

Highly recommend going elsewhere for your legal needs!

Working with Kathleen Begley was an awesome experience. She won my divorce for me outright. She did this after taking up my case in the late stages and dealing with a completely uncooperative former spouse. I couldn't have asked for better and couldn't be happier with the results she got me. 10/10

This is the place to go if you are a dad getting divorced and wondering how you're going to keep from getting taken to the cleaners. Yes there is always a cost for hiring your lawyer, but it is worth the piece of mind of knowing that you are not giving up your rights (or money) as a soon to be ex-husband or dad. I am a dad who was stuck with a lot of debt from a bad marriage and wanting to know how I was going to afford life after divorce. Cordell & Cordell got me everything I needed to protect my daughter and give me the financial ability to take care of her. If you're scared, unsure, feeling lost, CALL THEM NOW!

The impression was that my case was merely a pathway to revenue. I spent a significant sum on papers and hearings that accomplished nothing but contributing to my indebtedness. My former wife was spending me out of representation and it appeared that Cordell & Cordell was complicit. They negotiated nothing in my behalf. Much to my chagrin, in the end, I negotiated my own settlement, unfair as it was, to conclude my divorce without further indebtedness to Cordell & Cordell. I hired them to do a job which was never performed.

I was excited about Cordell and Cordell because they advertised as fathers advocates. The firm “upgraded” me to the “most senior attorney” because my case was very important to me and I was willing to pay top dollar for good advisory and professionalism.

What I ended up getting is blown off, not communicated to, and further from an outcome then when I started. I have been charged over $5,000 so far and have not stepped foot in a courtroom yet. I am going on 3 months and no court date, no mediation, no action.

I was contacted by the firms “Client Care Department,” where I expressed my dissatisfaction for the way I have been treated and taken advantage of. Guess what? They never responded to me.

I have never felt so discouraged in my life, and I’m paying good money for what is supposed to be reassurance and guidance. I went from feeling excited about this firm to now feeling like giving up on my case all together.

If you are reading this review please do yourself a favor and seek other legal council. I can’t stress enough how disappointed you will be if you choose Cordell and Cordell.

I would highly recommend Teresa Drexler and the Drexler Law firm. I have used her in the past and from top to bottom her practice was top notch. She cared about my case, was proactive and charged fairly for what she did.

I wish I wouldn’t have fallen for the “father advocate” hype at Cordell and Cordell, and chose The Drexler Lawfirm again. Biggest mistake of my life!
