Worst legal services I've ever received. This office takes cases just so they can get paid by the government. They work against the client instead of for the client. Extremely unprofessional.

I will be filing a complaint with the Bar Association. I will also file a malpractice lawsuit against the attorney who represented me after I contact all of the other people who had a horrible experience with this office.

Highly recommend using these services!! My landlord wrongfully withheld my security deposit and Charleston Pro Bono Legal Services helped me to get it back. I am a low income resident of Charleston/recent college graduate. I did not have any legal expertise or money to pay for a lawyer, but since I met their income requirements I got free legal services. With the help of Attorney Elizabeth Hartman, in a difficult case against a corrupt attorney/landlord, I was able to win my security deposit back x3. When I showed up for court, not only was my attorney there, but a team of people from their office came to support me. I cannot express my gratitude to this organization enough! They do great work.

I would love to leave a good review for these services, but unfortunately I have not had a so great experience with this office. I was working with the office on a no contest divorce. I then had to schedule a clinic to verify new employment. It was hard for me to do being that I am not only a mother of two small children, and recently started a new job and still on probation. I missed an appointment. But this time I called because I would be 5 to 10 minutes late. When I called to speak with the lawyer handling my case. This was a not so great experience. She started reprimanding me as if I was her child and she was my mother. She spoke to me in such a condescending tone. I offered to email my pay stubs to her, she then said "why didn't already do that, you already missed your appointment you need to get it together." I said because "you told me I could bring them in, and why are you talking to me like this." She then said well your going to be late so I'm canceling your appointment for next Thursday. I then said it's okay I will be there in a few to fix the issue. She then said don't the appointment is canceled", She then hung the phone up on me and I called back and requested a manager. She then started telling me how I have a personal issue, I said no I don't I want to speak with whoever is in charge of the office. She said well they aren't here. They will be here momentarily. I asked for his information she declined that. I then said no problem I'm on my way. When I stepped into the office I asked the gentleman if he was the manager. He said yes. I introduced myself, and stated I wanted to speak to him. He already was bias and said in a nasty tone, "Isn't that what you are here for?." I was just waiting on this gentleman to say duh. Before I would complete a sentence about how I was treated he cut me off. He said I was standing here the whole time you were on the phone, I then said if that is the case then why didn't you take my initial call when your esquire hung up on me and I called back to speak with you.", he then said "well maybe there was a little white lie in there." I then stated well is there any way I can get another lawyer for my case. He then said "I'm canceling your case, we cannot help you." I asked why not, and he said I deem you out of control." I was baffled that this man even said this to me for making a simple report and getting hung up on he didn't apologize for his employees behavior he just canceled my case. I spoke to him and he ignored me, gave me a business card and told me to contact a lawyer if I felt wronged. This was the worst service I ever received. It's a free service and they definitely treat you like you are a free client. They have no respect and no guidelines on how to respect their clients. If you can I recommend save yourself the headache and just pay for a lawyer.

Before I make this review, I will say that my attorney supplied me with so much information about Landlord Tenant laws her dedication to these cases are impeccable. My only complaint was that I got sick the night before and the morning of court and I was late to my hearing. According to there guidlines they couldn't represent me anymore, NO EXCEPTIONS.I regret getting sick, I wish I wasn't fighting a life threatening illness and I regret losing her representation.
