I’ve had this bank for almost 8 years. Its terrible. Not this branch. Just the bank in general. I had to beg for a credit card a little 1k card. They won’t let my wife get an account or get on my account. And the fees. O lord the fees. Basically laughed at me when I asked for a home loan once. Just lost 15 bucks cause they won’t take a charge off my account Definitely switching banks after taxes hit.

This company is a disgrace. No phone call or email to say I had missed a payment because their crappy online system would not allow me to complete automatic payments on their website. I had built perfect credit and never missed a payment, until one time with them and they gave me no courtesy call or email to say I had missed and they would have to report me to the credit companies. Now, while in the process of buying a home, my credit score had been dinged. We’re in the 21st century and they don’t have modern systems to help customers. My first and last time dealing with this embarrassment of a company

This is by far the worst baking establishment I have ever used. I had a car loan with this Bank and a checking account. I moved out of state and I lost my debit card. In the meantime my account went into negative. I try to get it out of negative by working with the bank they would not work with me. They sent my very small balance into collections about 3 days after this all went down. I fell behind on my car loan and explain to canvas credit Union employees that I could not make a payment until my next payment. I got phone calls and text messages every single day. And even after paying off my car loan the employee asked me why it was late as I was making the final payment this is the most unprofessional Bank I've ever had to work with and the employees when they call always sound so desperate like they're going to get beat up if they don't get money from me

Make sure you watch your statements if you have ACH payments set up. I was charged late fees because they processed the money late. My bank statements say that the payment was taken out of my account on time, but they didn't process it on their end until the day after it was due. Why am I being charged late fees when it's Canvas's responsibility to process it on time? There is no reason why it should take 11 extra days to post to my account. The whole point of setting up ACH is so that my bills will be taken care of in a timely manner. I've had an account since 2020 and have been working on establishing a better payment history. I'm not going to pay more than is required if they can't even get the minimum payment processed on time, which is sad because I wanted to pay off my balance in larger sums.

Infuriating. I have a car loan with them. I wasn't made aware until the deal was complete that the only way I can set up auto payments is to open a checking account with them. They don't even have locations in my state. I have no online account to view my information. I just have to blindly make payments on their website using my debit card and the account number for the loan. And the payments don't even go through! I have screen shots of payment confirmations I have taken, and yet now I am late because the payment never processed. My account balance was sufficient for the car payment, and there was no explanation given as to why I would receive a confirmation but the funds wouldn't actually be processed.

I am really disappointed with the underwriters they go base what you have in your credit. I like this credit union when it was public service. It was much better. Canvas credit Union gave me a auto loan at 14%. and apply for a credit card, and I was denied just because what I had in my credit I seen worse, so I went to go ahead and refinance my vehicle with a Aurora credit Union. I was approved with my auto loan for 3%. That’s a Way difference and plus I apply for a credit card as well. They gave it to me for 2500 at 4% honestly, I was shocked something that canvas couldn’t even done for me to say because I had some collections but he there’s always a second chance I am truly happy with aurora credit Union honestly it’s something that canvas can’t even do it right there underwriters are always looking for perfect credit

I would rate 0 stars if I could. We came in to refinance our car - they ran our credit etc which was supposed to be good for 60 days. I cannot tell you how many times we called/emailed trying to get an update within those 60 days. We were completely ignored for 2 months. Then they have the audacity to reach out and ask if we still want to move forward but they would need to run our credit again. Biggest joke of a company please go anywhere else but here!!

Been a member of Canvas Credit union for several years. The staff at this location are all great and helpful, however the credit union itself is a mess.

Starting about 2 years ago payment processing has really gone screwy. Canvas will sometimes not process payments for several days and wait until the balance is low that it will create an overdraft. So for instance if I pay my phone bill on Monday, I have had Canvas wait until Thursday night, before my direct deposit to process this payment. Meanwhile processing all other payments without issue and nearly immediately.

Secondly after my card expired I went to the branch to get a new one. They had a employee check my ID outside of the branch before allowing me entry. This wasn’t compared to a list of members and I can’t rationalize why they would need to check my ID before entering a branch location. At the teller yes but the entrance? During COVID it seemed inappropriate to have to speak with a representative who was not assisting in any way and having them handle my ID without gloves.

They printed and gave me my new card in the location and advised it was active. However going to use the card it declined. I called the credit union and they advised they would mail me a new card, with the same number and information but then I would have to call a third party to have it activated. This third party then asked for my full SSN which made me uncomfortable.

Honestly I’m just tired of jumping through hoops. I can’t imagine another financial institution making me wait 2 weeks to get a new debit card just to then have to provide my full SSN to a third party activation company.

Update*
Called Canvas directly asking they activate card and they said they could not because it had been locked. I’m not sure how an inactive card could be locked & the customer support agent wasn’t sure either. She attempted to call out to their card management department and told me that the one person working there today was on lunch. After 45 minutes on the call they had to disconnect and tell me they will call me back once the staff member is back from lunch. 🙄

All of this seemed shady and made me uncomfortable, a feeling I most certainly do not want from my financial institution. I will be opening a checking account with another institution and I suggest you do the same.
