Unfortunately, this is another reason that Colorado ranks dead last on Mental wellness care. There was complete communication breakdown not very much support or coherency and the building was kind of a disarray also and when the person came to the meeting immediate, they completely got everything wrong. ?

I’ve been reluctant to share my thoughts on my experience utilizing the services of this office out of concern I’d face potential retaliatory actions. However, the risk of any potential consequences over sharing my thoughts cannot be any worse than what I’ve already been dealing with.
To be blunt, do not seek assistance from this office if you identify as BIPOC (emphasis on the ‘B’). You’d be better off pursuing direct legal action against the other party versus wasting valuable time in these mediation sessions. This office will not be objective or impartial, sensitive or unbiased.
In my situation, I was initially encouraged NOT to bring picture or video evidence to mediation—a mediation that I requested— which detailed in part the reasoning behind the conflict between myself and the other party. (I eventually was able to show the other party the pictures I had taken as proof at subsequent meetings)
Also, an “individual” was allowed to make a heinous remark about my son’s disability—the mediators did nothing. The same “individual” was allowed to behave like a petulant child while I spoke my piece, rolling her eyes, shaking her head ‘no’ vehemently, huffing, sighing, muttering, etc —again, not a word from the mediators.
In the end, the other party wasn’t asked to sign the agreement that was reached because of “communication difficulties”—this was only relayed to me after I ASKED for a signed copy because the other party has not been abiding by the terms. Well I now I see why.
So months were wasted following this process when my time and efforts could’ve been spent utilizing more productive means to bring a resolution to my situation. As for why I was given this treatment and the other party/individual wasn’t—I can only SPECULATE that it has everything to do with a combination of factors that include race, identity politics, class/status, “white-savior-complex syndrome” and nepotism/being “in” with the “ right” people in this city. But again, that is just my theory based on my experience. However I would not recommend this mediation service to anyone seeking an impartial setting to help resolve any complex conflict.
