I advise against relying on online services such as 'Alabama Divorce Online'. Trying to save money with these "services" has now cost me more than if I had opted for the expertise of a competent lawyer or maybe a paralegal.
I reside in Florida and hired the "Alabama Divorce Online" services to facilitate my divorce due to travel constraints and cost-saving intentions. They finalized my divorce, but overlooked the last step of filing to obtain the divorce certificate. I have attempted several times to seek assistance without success. It seems their concern wanes once payment is received. I had to contact the Alabama Department of Public Health, and they reached out to the clerk's office in Bessemer, AL on my behalf since "Alabama Divorce Online" refused to assist. We were informed that the attorney ('Alabama Divorce Online) who filed for my divorce was also supposed to file for the divorce certificate and did not do it. This is why the Alabama Vital Records in Montgomery has no record of my certificate. I contacted Kim at Alabama Divorce Online once again for help and explained what we were told by the court, but her last reply was:

“We do not "file" the certificate. The certificate is automatically generated through the court's e-filing system when we enter your information, your spouse's information, when establishing your case with the court. We have absolutely no way to obtain the certificate of divorce as it is not necessary for finalizing your divorce with the court. As we have previously mentioned, that is a form for the State of Alabama for statistical purposes. We are unable to assist you with this matter.”

These individuals are stubborn, presuming they possess all-encompassing knowledge, simply because they likely haven't encountered a situation where a client genuinely requires their divorce certificate. Despite explanations and factors, they refuse to assist. Obtaining this certificate is crucial for me. Trying to save money with these "services" has led me to travel to Alabama, costing me more than if I had simply hired a competent attorney.
