Looking for someone to steal the joy out of what was going to be an emotional moment? Search no further, Janelle is your gal!
I was excited when I received an email from Service Link notifiying me of my 9:00 a.m. appointment with Janelle Thompson to sign closing loan documents.
As 915am came and went, I realized maybe Janelle got lost. My house is in a tiny cul to sac tucked into a neighborhood so I called her cell number provided in the confirmation email.
I introduce myself, ask if everything is okay, if she was on her way, and if we were still meeting at my house. She said probably, but she'll have to call me later to schedule. I was confused, I thought we were scheduled?
I asked several questions in a row, not understanding at all what was going on.
I thought we had an appointment at 9:00?
The email said we had an appointment at 9:00?
She's impatiently telling me not to be upset , that she's busy right now with a customer and is going to have to meet me later in the afternoon, perhaps she'll be back from Ione at 1pm.
I say, I'm not upset, I'm excited. I'm closing on a house today. I am really not understanding this at all... I took the morning off. We had a 9am appointment. Your email said 9am at my house?
She says I didn't receive your documents until 7:30 this morning. I'm like great, our appointment was at 9:00. 7:30 is before 9: 00.
She then said something like, "don't tell me how to do my job," along those lines, that didn't make sense to me at the time, but does now. Documents are released to mobile notaries in advance so they can prepare for appointments ahead. I was able to confirm with the title company that my documents were released to her Friday.
Janelle says to me, I called you twice this morning and left you messages. I am with a customer outside their house at a signing, they are waiting on me, I have a meeting, then I come back from Ione.
And honestly? I'm like, no way lady. I've been up working since 4:00, my phone is reliable, my signal is strong at my house.
I said, respectfully ma'am I've been up since 4:00 a.m., and I've been on my phone. I did not receive any missed calls, or messages. What number did you call?
She recited my number to me correctly. I confirmed she had the right number, and said that is my business number, I have been making and receiving calls and messages all morning and did not receive any missed calls or any messages from you.
Would you mind sending me a screenshot of your calls so I can confirm the number?
I thought she was going to lose her mind. As she's threatening to hang up on me, I click into survival mode. I really need this loan to close.
I say, Okay, so wait a minute, what time do you want to meet, 1?
But I've missed my chance.
Janelle says, You've wasted my time. I'll call you when I'm done, I'm hanging up now.
I say again, Janelle, would you like to make that 1pm appointment?
She repeats herself, you have wasted my time. I Will call you back later. And hung up on me. Total time elapsed 4 mins 47 secs.
According to the title company Janelle would have been notified at the same time as me of our 9:00 a.m. appointment, Nov 1, 2024, 12:58PM. According to her, she's been doing this a long time. If she didn't receive the documents she needed to fulfill my appointment and she went ahead and scheduled another 9:00 a.m. shouldn't she have let me know, then?
Let's say she didn't know anything about me until this morning at 7:30 a.m. . Never heard of me until today at 7:30 a.m. let's go with that.
There's no way she called me. And if she did call me, she didn't leave me a message, text me, call the lender, the title company or anyone to notify them or me she would not be at our 9am appointment. . And if she didn't leave me a message or make any of those attempts to contact me, I can't help her.
So yeah, No. When you called me back to "reschedule"? Absolutely not. I don't want your name attached to my home. I don't want your ugliness touching me or my family. You're not a nice lady.
