Worst I've ever dealt with. I did my intake the week before Christmas December 2022, it's now August 2023 and nothing. I've called several times and keep getting told " they don't know why nobody is contacting me" , well I'm getting contacted by people telling me they now have judgement against me this should not be happening. Don't waste your time o n these guys, they're free and you certainly get your money's worth.

Very helpful and knowledgeable. I would advise contacting them as soon as you get the news of any legal issue you may have. They take a week or before a case is assigned to them.

Extremely, long wait times and when you do get a hold of someone they're not able to help you they try to refer you to two or three different numbers again because if you're dealing with a civil suit or if you're dealing with a criminal suit they're basically an intake. Where I was able to make no headway and either the civil or the criminal issues that I need help with even though they're supposed to be volunteer for people with financial issues if we didn't have the civil in criminal issues that were causing the financial issues maybe we could afford lawyers I thought that was the whole purpose they were there for was to help.

Do not go here! I have been through SO much and really needed help. I don't have any family here and did not have family support for my situation either. I worked as long as I could during my pregnancy and due to COVID and me being the primary caregiver of my children, I cannot afford to catch this virus, therefore, I am not currently working either. I am living in a very hostile and unhealthy environment and stuck with it now. I went to Birmingham Volunteer Lawyers for help with my divorce and got a run around along with different answers from different lawyers. I was told to wait until after the birth of my child to seek further assistance and that they would have my case on hold until that time. My case was still open and I was told that they would re-visit my case. They had already waived the court fees as I did not have the finances to pay for it. Then they decided to send me a bill of 199.00 in the mail for court fees anyways. When I called about the fees, they told me they could not waive it. I told them I was not working and they didn't seem to care and said I still had to pay it. They also told me that I had to wait to do anything about my case due to COVID and I called EVERY week to check if they were available. The letter they sent me in my mail claimed that due to inactivity, my case was dismissed and that I had to pay court fees. Also, they were supposed to have a social worker call me back for help with my situation but no one ever did and I kept telling them about it as well. I will not seek their "help" again.
