You know what they think of Ridgecrest and the people when the person in charge of the Base does NOT light the Christmas Star in the East at Christmas Time. NOTE: I have been here all my life and you can judge the person in charge by there actions of how they feel about you and me.

We lived here back in the early ‘90’s and loved it. The swamp coolers needed a little help in August. 112* in the shade. But our kids enjoyed shooting rockets in the dry lake bed and riding our horse at the base stables. I even rode to the top of “B” mountain. Good 3 years.

I have been awakened two weeks this month by flyovers at 0230 and 0300 Why are there flyovers at such odd hours. I thought the flying was supposed to stop @ 2200. Both of
these sounded like they were directly over my residence in SE Ridgecrest. I have been unable to return to sleep on both occasions.

I was promised a lot of wildlife exposure from rattlesnakes to the infamous desert tortoise. During my three day stay on various hillsides and OPs, I never saw a single animal, just tons of flies. 0/10, would not recommend.

Me and my family live here, But my dad works here in Naval air weapons China Lake, and my Dad has to work for 4 years and we also have to live here for 4-5 years, idk if it was amazing or not but ok.

I have heard this museum is great so we headed there to give it a try. Its on active military base so you need to comply with access rules. On gate we have been told we need a base entrance permit, which you will get in small building next to the plane, parking is on the opposite site then THA gate. You must have US passport or be a US citizen to get permit for entering the base. Sign up in the small book across the entrance and wait to be called.

This base allows community members to shop and play at their facilities. Great gym, pool, parks, thrift store, bowling alley, seasonal events, and their MWR for tickets. The China Lake Museum (located outside the actual base entrance) is a good place to learn about all the cool things that have been developed there and the kinds of specialized testing they do. And then there's the petroglyphs!!!
