Legal Aid Defenders saved me from losing my home in a land contract dispute. The attorney who was assigned to my case was hardworking and diligent and won my case for me. I really appreciate what the L.A.D.A did for me.

I feel so bad for anyone having to get aid through this association. My tenant was on the verge of eviction meanwhile they dragged their feet for 2 months to send payment. Keeping everyone on edge the entire time for no reason. They could have instead, provided a more accurate timeline rather than saying it should take 2-3 days for approval and another 2-3 days to receive payment by ACH. Literally ridiculous and am so happy that this is the only house I have in their district.

It was years ago but this agency helped me tremendously when I had a slum landlord. I was so thankful and grateful for them. All they needed was information and I had information and pictures. For this to be FREE legal help and lawyers actually going to court and fighting for you the least a person can have when using this agency is patience because they do not require a dime, they didn't when I patronized them so keep that in mind when enduring the process.

Not much of a defender when the specific type of lawyer that handle civil litigation is limited, not taking cases when inquire physically at location.

Nor, when told they do walk-ins starting at 11am; however, you must call an automatic 1-800 number to set-up appointment for walk-in (when you are already physically there) and the designated 800 number to set-up appointment is automatic and cannot talk to a live person, nor leave a message. This is the Great Legal Aide Defenders in Detroit!

Went there several years ago but I still remember all the help they offered me but unfortunately for my situation, my household income exceeded the waived fees for free legal aid... I still recommend this place to friends who are going through the same experience
