I'm a service connected rveteran ated 100% and unemployable. My background was in search and rescue and was in the Persian Gulf combat operations. My income is VA and SSDI only as I am unemployable. I have an 85yo mom who is my dependent. Her only income is SSDI. I was told that a policy change disallowed any 100% veterans automatically due to income. The lady was extremely rude and insensitive in the way she expressed this to me. As a result I had to self represent and still won but the added stress was a burden.

If o could leave NO STARS, I would. I was told by a friend that this place would help me with my custody case. I applied and went through the interview process without them ever mentioning I had to be a US CITIZEN to qualify for help. Then I get transferred to an Andrew Musquiz who requests that I provide information related to my case, which I took a full 10 days to gather, only for him to tell me they couldn’t help me with my case due to my legal status. I am here legally under “withholding of removal”…but I cannot get help? You should have mentioned that before ever beginning any interview. You people are uneducated and have no idea how to run a business. ? bad people!!

The first attorney(male) I spoke with was the only reason I thought they could possibly help. He listened, didn't over talk me and seemed knowledgeable. Since it was going to be free, I'm not surprised. For me, the lady who I ended up having to talk to was cold and had horrible energy for me. I decided I just couldn't deal with her personally. So, I don't know but I am very disappointed I waited so long without finding my own private attorney from the beginning. I was going by word of mouth. But was warned that I might need to just hire an attorney to get the help I need.

This non-profit is poorly run. They are difficult to reach (mailboxes full), don't return calls and are off putting when I actually reach them. They are tasked with at least attempting to help. But after completing an application there's been no contact despite numerous calls. AND letters.
I plan on contacting the IRS about investigating this so called "non-profit". This is wrong.

Come to find out if you are a veteran and have $10K or more worth assets then you are not eligible for DVAP services. Most cars are worth more than that these days. For example my Jeep is worth more than that in 2021 and it's 15 years old. Non-profit organizations like this one take in all of the goodwill but avoid the work and they should be exposed. Thanks for nothing DVAP.

Thanks DVAP for all your help. You matched me with a attorney who got my case resolved in a timely manor. He was very pleasent dealing with, and I didn't have to travel to Dallas living 3 hours away.

So crappy, to say the least. We tried to get help at the Garland clinic, worked so hard at it, kept visiting only to be told after about 1 whole month later, in a letter, that reviewed our case but "they were unable to help due to low resources". What a waste of time! You people are awful!
