I feel for those who have had a horrible experience but I can’t say the same. I totally thought I left a review years ago but life been well you know?! 😩 I moved here back in 2017 after my mom passed away gullible to the housing that was available and thought I ran across a decent livable home in Clayton County, GA. Unfortunately, the home was a nightmare. The ceiling started to leak downstairs when someone would shower. I have never in my life dealt with a landlord/tenant issue but there I stood facing this well known battle hundreds maybe even thousands go against in this peachy state. Between the nasty vindictive landlords and the cost of living we are really dealing with homelessness more and more. Man! It messed with my emotions especially after just burying my best friend/mom. I met an angel named Riesh who provided me their information and mentioned something about a Saturday Program and from there I felt relieved. Of course, I’m nervous and scared but I’ve always respected, acknowledged and appreciated whatever I’m blessed to live in so why was I going through this situation at all and the fact that my landlord wanted to make it seem like I was a LIAR!! One thing I can’t stand is that so how could I be Anyway, the program is dope and they link you to affiliated law firms that really care. I’ve built my relationship with Raymond at Seyfarth Shaw LLP and he’s so informative. Till this day, anytime someone is going thru it I can contact him for direction. I suggest they contact them for landlord/tenant issues thru the Saturday Program. Check their website out because they definitely offer different programs but I’m speaking based off of the program and experience I had. Thank y’all!! At the end, I won my case and although I had the rights to have gotten my full amount back I was honest enough to account the one or two months I was actually able to live in the townhome as something that landlord could keep. Never do evil for evil! Be blessed!!! ā¤ļø Bxmami4eva

Unorganized and very unprofessional. I won my case a year ago and they still haven't resolved any of my issues.

They genuinely don’t care about people. Angel was the only person willing to help. In the middle of a case and they ghosted me. No one returns calls, don’t waste your time. Cole and Alexandria were supposed to call me back months ago, still fighting unfit housing that they don’t care about. They have lawyers that don’t care about your case, they do the bare minimum and throw you to the side. Do not trust these people.

I had been going through the intake process over the past month and a half or so and they just wrongly closed my entire case and lied saying that they never received any of my supporting documentation. I have sent proof of this being sent and continuously called and have been ghosted.
Extremely unprofessional and not okay for people who are already going through it and desperately looking for help.

i was deeply led on by AVLF and their employees/supervisor. i understand that they may be dealing with a lot but instead of being upfront and communicative they led me and other tenants on concerning our case of eviction and landlord retaliation. i honestly wish they were straightforward with the support they couldn't offered so i could have south it elsewhere or atleast built up the knowledge and capacity to represent me and the other tenants in court. i would def not recommend. they need help with capacity building and also everytime i called the hotline they seemed extra annoyed.

They don’t help much. Just pay for an actual consultation with an attorney elsewhere. All they do is help the lawyers get pro bono hours. They’ll claim to help with creating a plan if they don’t have an attorney for you - they won’t. Once the attorney earned their hours from ā€œlisteningā€ to your case, you will never hear from them again. Save yourself the time.

Wow. Is all I have to say about this "foundation" not only did they NOT resolve my (YEAR) long case. They refused to call me to provide any real communication throughout this entire process. Being more than patient, hopeful, understanding, & cooperative with this "foundation" to receive NOTHING in return. Not so much as a call back... There were "college" students sent to my home to gather pictures, a lengthy trail of evidence, plus whatever more they asked for..... & Yet still they could not help me or in their words. "Find a Lawyer to take the case" pitiful.
How is there no one to take the case of a ceiling caving in and nearly killing its residents I don’t know..
But if your case isn’t as severe as that, then I'd say go elsewhere..
You'd be better off receiving help from a local church or a low-cost lawyer.
I wouldn’t recommend working with this "foundation"

I am so thankful for Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation. The idea of fighting for the rights of people who are often looked over and passed by. They did not ignore me or pass by. They stopped and render aide. This is a volunteer organization and often people thinks this means less. I must say this is not a good description of the service and care I received. They got in the trenches and fought very hard for me and my family. I am very pleased with this experience.
