Good afternoon,

My name is ××××××× and I am writing this email on behalf of ××××××.

On October 24th 2018 ××××× contacted Upright Law to inquire about filing chapter 7 bankruptcy. Upright Law is a law firm that advertises to help people file bankruptcy. He was given the cost of their services. ×××××× couldn't afford to pay their costs up front so they set up a payment plan, he paid them $300 up front and they deducted $100 a paycheck for 17 paychecks. When ×××××× finished paying them he decided bankruptcy was not in his best interest so he contacted Upright Law on August 12th 2019, to let them know he had changed his mind.

The person he spoke with told him that they would issue him a refund but not for the entire amount. The refund they offered him was in the amount of $1,358.50 they informed him that the other part they where keeping for services rendered. ×××××× agreed to these terms and they told Robert he would receive his refund in 40 to 60 days. The 8th of November marked 60 business days and ×××××× did not receive a refund check. He tried contacting Upright Law to inquire about his refund and after several day's of being hung up on they finally called him back. The representative he spoke to told him that because of high business his refund has been back logged and they are still working on it. It is now the 3rd of December and they have blocked his phone number.

I have done research on this company and it seems as though this is a common practice for them. They have been steeling money from vulnerable people for quite some time now and it doesn't seem to have raised a red flag with the Better Business Bureau. There are many reviews online from people who have and are experiencing the same treatment from Upright Law.

We need your help to expose this company and warn other people across the country.

I started a bankruptcy but found out it wasnt right for me. Paid for it, but upright isnt returning all of it. Scammers. Buyer Beware

Very unprofessional. They said they see people in person but can do evaluations over the phone for convenience, I said we would rather come in person and they interrupted me saying “we can’t help you then” and immediately hung up.
