Come to the Crested Butte area with plenty of time to see the town and especially make the drive through the mountains. The best time of course is the summer flower season and the fall leaf peeping weeks.

Great source of information here. Crested Butte is my new favorite Colorado ski town. Possibly my new atf town period. Great laid-back athletic hipster vibe. Very colorful. Bikes and dogs everywhere! I could live here, or at the very least - spend any number of great vacations here. Note to self.

Lots of maps and brochures.
Unfortunately the guidance I got about Aspen's turning was about a week out of date.
Everywhere I was directed, the leaves had fallen. I heard later that there were plenty of places with leaves just turning.
Disappointed because I drove 3 hours to get there. And spent 2 hours seeing only three groves of Aspen.

went in twice, and both times the sweet older man and woman working in there provided helpful information. 🙂 specifically about taking kebler pass to ohio pass to get down to gunnison on a less traveled route! it was good fun on the dirt roads!

David was an amazing Colorado concierge! He was very knowledgeable about the area and all Crested Butte has to offer. Also if you stop into the visitor center and you are camping they give you a free gift!

Nice drive around ... Spot blooming flowers ... you can park and walk as well ... Complimentary City bus from the visitor center and parking is free at the visitor center
