They won't do it for you. They are not a legal office. They don't get paid by customers. They are a non-profit...funded by people who make them better. Complaining about how shi%%y they are doesn't do anything. Donating money, volunteering, etc., actually does help make that critical difference in people's lives.
.
1. I sued my landlord because she would not let me take my property off her land.
2. Judge said go across the street and talk to Community Legal to resolve it.
3. It was resolved in 3 hours by Erin. Both parties gave a donation totaling about $100.
.
So it works in the sense that a person can get free, or cheap, effective legal help.
.
Does it work well? No, in the sense that you may get offended because it's not like the lawyer's office you are used to. Staffed with untrained people. You have to help them help you.
.
Why? Because it is not funded by clients with money. It's funded by donations.
.
The legal help provided comes from lawyers who donate their time in bi-monthly workshops. It's one of the best set ups I have seen in the U.S.
.
They need money, office resources, volunteers.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. ALl they do is do a google search for local lawyers....not about helping people at all. It was an all around disheartening experience. Where ever their funding is coming from ...it is money down the drain...
